Job Description
· Our client's mission is to structure the world’s medical data to make it useful.
· We work directly with patients to collect, digitize, and manage their complete medical records, giving them with control over their care through a personal health timeline.
· We also partner with biotech, genomics, and pharma companies who sponsor PicnicHealth accounts for research volunteers.
· Through this work we’re building the data sets that power some of today’s most cutting-edge medical research.
· We’re going through a crazy period of 20x growth this year, coming off our recent Grand Prize finish in Google Cloud’s Machine Learning Startup Competition.
THE ROLE:
· As our first dedicated DevOps Engineer, you will maintain and grow our infrastructure stack, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring and alerting systems.
· You will work alongside our product engineers to improve the developer experience and production infrastructure.
· You will help ensure that our users’ data is safe and secure within our infrastructure.
· Our team is small, so you’ll need to be able to work quickly and independently, and dive into any challenge that gets thrown at you.
· In our infrastructure stack today, you’d use some of the following tools:
o GCP, Kubernetes (GKE w/ GPU node pools, Helm), PostgreSQL, Stackdriver, Jenkins, Tensorflow.
TO GET A FLAVOR FOR THE RANGE OF PROJECTS YOU MIGHT WORK ON, HERE’S A SAMPLE LIST:
· Analyze and increase efficiency of resource utilization within cluster.
· Build efficient pipeline for training, deploying, and monitoring machine learning models.
· Parallelize CI/CD build and test steps to improve speed.
· Analyze and implement fixes for infrastructure issues identified by bug bounty program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Design, build, and maintain the core infrastructure used by all of Product and Engineering.
· Develop new systems and tools to improve the developer experience and velocity.
· Drive monitoring across the app and ensure reliability of an increasingly complex system.
· Harden security of the PicnicHealth infrastructure and services.
· Architect and develop solutions that will advance internal security monitoring & controls.
· Be the first line of defense against production issues.
· Benchmark performance and implement diagnostics.
Qualifications
A CANDIDATE MUST HAVE:
· B.S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
· Write high quality code in a programming language (e.g. Python, JS).
· 2+ years building production-quality infrastructure.
· Experience with building and deploying cloud-based web services.
· Comfort in UNIX shells.
· Takes security extremely seriously.
Additional Information
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
· Has worked with tools in our infrastructure stack.
· Has dealt with container orchestration, preferably Kubernetes.
· Is excited by machine learning and wants to build infrastructure to support it.
