  • Responsibilities

    Prepare the aircraft to a final assembly configuration by working with basic aircraft structure. Employee will perform a variety of assembly operations/installations of primary aircraft components such as fairing, control surfaces, electrical harnesses, windows, windshields, insulation, dome panels, rudder and tee bars; and hydraulic, fuel, air-conditioning, de-icing electrical systems, etc.. Assist in the installation of power plant, wings, doors, cowls, propellers and oxygen/electrical systems. Employee must be able to work independently with minimal direction from Supervisor.

    • Work from and follow process specifications, work orders, travelers, station paperwork, blueprints, rework/rejection tags, schedules, Aircraft Production Orders, schematics, layout & modifications sheets, engineering orders, Piper Production Specifications (PPS), Piper Material Specifications (PMS), Material Review Board, and verbal/written instruction.
    • Assist in the installation and testing of pressurization/bleed air system.
    • Accurately complete Break Of Inspection Record (BOI) in accordance with company procedures.
    • Follow prescribed work activities to meet production schedule. 
    • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
    • Route wiring harnesses, cables, and various system lines.
    • Trim, align and adjust parts as required to ensure proper fit.
    • Install various components in structural assembly.
    • Properly prepare surfaces and apply sealant/adhesives per Piper Process Specifications (PPS).
    • Install / connect de-ice systems components on wings, empennage, and propeller.
    • Perform functional tests on a variety of aircraft systems for leakage, continuity, and functionality; and, if necessary, rework, repair or replace faulty components.
    • Requires the use of basic tools and various hand tools as specified by departmental tool list.
    • Scrutinize every facet of job and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to Supervisor.
    • Perform housekeeping chores as department requirements dictate.
    • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

    Required Experience

    High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED), 1 - 3 years of related experience and training / equivalent combination of education and experience.
