  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    ** Purpose/goals**

    • Manage safety, quality, productivity, delivery and cost for plant’s glass manufacturing department. Also manage large-scale projects for the facility.

    ** RESPONSIBILITIES**

    • Review department’s daily productivity, safety, delivery and quality performance, coach leadership on means to continuously improve in these areas.
    • Work with Technical Services organization (maintenance and process engineering) to develop & implement department improvements.
    • Manage safety for department including walk-through audits with area leadership.
    • Review delivery and quality failures and develop countermeasures to improve performance.
    • Train associates on lean manufacturing concepts.
    • Implement plant changes/projects such as process improvements, new product introductions, etc.
    • Manage vendor/supplier delivery/quality issues. Improve accuracy of controlled inventory for the department, review daily cycle count failures.
    • Manage large-scale special projects such as plant closures and transitions (Varies with project and timing).
    • Summarize and report department’s performance monthly.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    ** REQUIREMENTS**

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline preferred.

    Experience

    • Minimum of five years experience in manufacturing and managing salaried employees.

    Skills/Abilities

    • Comprehensive knowledge of behavioral change methods and personnel management. Thorough knowledge of lean manufacturing and quality systems. General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
