Job Description

The Post Closing Underwriter is responsible for performing post audit reviews to determine whether approved loans have been underwritten in compliance with investor, government and FNMA/FHLMC/GNMA guidelines. Communicates deficiencies to management and make recommendations for corrective action.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform in-depth and analysis for each individual investor suspense and/or review.
• Perform risk analysis and make decisions regarding deficiencies identified during the review process and recommend resolution to deficiency.
• Submit rebuttals to individual investors based upon individual risk analysis and loss mitigation as per Cornerstone policy.
• Professionally communicate the results of file reviews in written format.
• Effective written and verbal communication/presentation skills.
• Strong organizational skills, teamwork, and results orientated.
• Meet timeframe deadlines and monthly deliverables.
• Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge level regarding underwriting, processing and regulatory changes, and agency guidelines as they relate to quality control review function.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma, college degree preferred
• Experienced Conventional and Government mortgage underwriter with at least 2 years' experience
• Excellent knowledge of Agency and Federal rules and guidelines
• Self-starter ability to work and make progress with very little supervision
