Corning Research & Development Corporation (Painted Post, NY) seeks Modeling Project Leader. Plan & coordinate computer modeling projects (computational fluid dynamics/structural mechanics) performed at Corning locations worldwide; work w/ development/engineering/ manufacturing groups to align modeling strategies w/ business needs; work w/ materials characterization department to measure polymer properties as required to input for models; communicate results/learning to global teams, update stakeholders, & request funding/support. Up to 20% domestic & international travel. Requires Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related; 3 yrs. w/ fluid & solid mechanics modeling for the design of fiber optics products & processes; 3 yrs. w/ injection molding of plastics & polymers; 3 yrs. designing injection molding equipment (i.e. screw feeders, molds, thermal management channels); 3 yrs. designing optical connectors & enclosures; & 1 yr. managing technical project teams of engineers & scientists.
