On the Data Engineering Team, our mission is to efficiently automate the acquisition, ingestion, publishing, mastering, validation, and integration for all kinds of data, from raw data sets acquired from external parties, to proprietary data produced within, we aim to build an outstanding data tech stack that will meet the needs of our applications, analytics, and business teams who consume this mission critical data to make impactful and informed decisions. As a highly collaborative organization, our data teams are cross-functional, applying both software engineering and data engineering to continuously build and enhance our data architecture efforts. In this role, you will see a direct correlation between your work efforts, asset growth, risk mitigation, and internal user satisfaction.     WHAT WILL YOU DO?

    • Design and implement data stores, data lakes, data warehouses, data pipelines and data integrations; visualize and define standards and principles, including modeling, metadata, security, and reference data.
    • Develop and advance co's data best practices and procedures, including but not limited to data hygiene, provenance, engineering, transformation, streaming and security
    • Help collect, analyze, and understand requirements; advise product managers and engineering staff on what’s possible; scope and estimate data initiatives.
    • Define policies and establish standards for modeling, structuring, naming, describing, securing, and formatting data.
    • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models with associated metadata including data lineage and technical data definitions.
    • Lead efforts to implement a reference data and master data management strategy.
    • Design and develop end to end robust, scalable data ingestion pipelines and data platform architecture that will support the analytical and reporting needs of the various business organizations.
    • Ability to architect and build an end to end data platforms.
    • Strong understanding and experience building ELT/ETL solutions for both structured and unstructured data sets.
    • Launch and support new data models that provide intuitive analytics to internal customers
    • Prototype new technologies and implement innovative solutions to enable teams to consume and understand data faster.
    • Leverage business and domain acumen to interpret and translate business requirements to architecture/technology plans.
    • Drive and define an overarching data architecture vision and strategy to maximize the optimization of data assets for the enterprise
    • Define, implement, and govern data architecture standards on behalf of the enterprise
    • Design, develop, and test data models to support both analytical and operational needs at the conceptual through physical level
    • Build and maintain an enterprise view of co's data assets and system interfaces
    • Work directly with product and business stakeholders to understand their respective requirements and translate them into data architecture solutions

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • BS/MS (CS or related major preferred)
    • 10+ years of programming experience
    • Experience with cloud warehouses, columnar stores, relational databases, time series stores, etc.
    • Experience in batch/streaming data pipeline design, implementation and maintenance
    • Experience with modern object-oriented programming languages like Python as well as Golang, Rust, or Kotlin
    • Experience with schema design, dimensional data modeling, high-speed API's, and interfaces
    • Experience analyzing data to identify deliverables, gaps and inconsistencies
    • Experience managing and communicating plans to internal clients
    • Experience with major cloud providers like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform
    • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform
    • Experience with event-sourcing and event driven architectures, as message brokers like RabbitMQ, Kafka, etc.
    • Experience with application instrumentation, for telemetry/observability like Datadog or OpenTelemetry.
    • Experience with Git and modern best practices for releases, PR's, GitOps, CI/CD, etc.
    • High attention to detail and supreme quality, while balancing both practicality and value-creation.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure
