SNELLING is recruiting for a Corporate Controller for a growing, private equity-backed client in Tyler, TX. The Corporate Controller is one of several Controller-level leaders reporting to the CFO, each with specific areas of focus. In this role, you will be the hands-on leader of the accounting function, owning cash, accounts payable, and the month-end close while staying close to the work and the team. This is an onsite role averaging 40-45 hours per week, with occasional additional hours around month-end, quarter-end, and year-end. As the company continues to grow through acquisition, there is opportunity for advancement.

This is a direct-hire position, meaning you will begin employment directly on the client employer’s payroll from day one, with Snelling guiding you confidentially through the interview and consideration process.

The benefit to you is that we have a direct line to the hiring manager and can work with you to highlight the most relevant parts of your experience and education to increase your chances of being considered for this role.

    Key Areas of Focus

    • Cash & Accounts Payable: Manage cash balances and reporting, and oversee AP operations, supporting staff directly when needed.
    • Month-End Close: Lead the close, monitoring progress daily so there are no surprises when the books close.
    • Annual Audit: Serve as a primary contact for the private equity fund’s annual audit.
    • Team & Partners: Manage and develop accounting direct reports, and work with Divisional Controllers to resolve questions across the financial ecosystem.
    • Systems & Process: Help lead the transition from Bill.com to a new AP platform that also tracks corporate credit card usage, and bring in new technology, including AI, to make the team more efficient. The department currently uses NetSuite.

      Skills & Qualifications

    • Leader who prefers working in the details alongside the team over a purely oversight or strategic role.
    • Spots issues early, keeps a close watch on progress, and is not afraid to ask questions when something looks unusual.
    • Embraces change and is eager to try new tools and AI.
    • Clear communicator who works well with the CFO, Divisional Controllers, auditors, and accounting staff.

      Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA required.
    • 10+ years of experience in a corporate accounting department or CPA firm.
    • 3 to 5+ years managing accounting staff and departmental functions.
    • Experience in a complex environment such as a larger company, PE-backed business, or multi-entity organization (experience limited to small, closely held companies is unlikely to be a fit).
    • Audit experience preferred; NetSuite and Bill.com experience a plus.
    • Industry experience not required.

Compensation for this position includes a base salary plus bonus, commensurate with experience, and a comprehensive benefits package.
