    NETWORK ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION

     

    CISSDM has been building and supporting IPVPN, Hybrid WAN, and SD-WAN for a wide range of multi-location enterprises throughout the continental U.S., Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Canada for over a decade. Our Network Engineers participate in consultation, discovery, design, configuration & documentation of technology upgrade projects and develop them to they point they can be seamlessly handed off to our Project Management and Deployment teams for implementation. We are looking for a senior engineer whose expertise is informed by hands-on experience with more than one platform. This person must be excited and knowledgeable about routing, switching, and building a solution that is compatible with the customer’s legacy networks for a smooth migration.

     

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION

     

    The Network Engineer is responsible for developing customer networks and must be the subject matter expert on technical concepts and IT infrastructure requirements. The candidate should maintain technical knowledge of wide area networking, local area networking, and Wi-Fi networking technologies. Hands-on experience is a must, as real-world experience in deploying and managing wide area networks must be demonstrated. The Network Engineer develops documentation for others to use in performing actual network deployment and performs preliminary training when the project is ready for handoff so written and verbal communication skill are a must. The ideal candidate should possess a strong working knowledge of the following concepts, technologies, and platforms:

     

    · Managed Network Services

    · Routing and Switching

    · SD-WAN

    · On-prem, Cloud-based, and hybrid network solutions

    · WAN Technologies: VPN, Broadband, DIA, MPLS, and cellular

    · Network Security (up to layer 7)

    · Dynamic Routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF)

    · Redundancy protocols (layer 2 and 3)

    · IP Addressing (DHCP, DNS, NAT)

    · Experience with security compliance such as HIPPA or PCI

    · Telephony, Phone Systems, VoIP

    · Wireless

     

    We develop solutions across a spectrum of WAN Edge technologies including Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Fortinet, Juniper, CradlePoint, VMWare SD-WAN by VeloCloud, and many others. Experience with more than one of the mentioned vendor technologies is a plus.

     

     

    JOB DUTIES

    · Works directly with clients and internal collaborators. Determines and evaluates potential solutions and develops system specifications and requirements.

    · Create comprehensive network documentation including staging, rack and stack, and visual network guides.

    · Acts as a Subject Matter Expert on deployed customer networks to assist in potential future design needs.

    · Assists in escalations as necessary in supported critical infrastructure.

     

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    · 5-7 years of experience in the Telecommunications or IT industries. Bachelor’s degree in technical field preferred or equivalent professional certifications and technical training.

    · Broad hands-on experience with implementation, configuration, and troubleshooting of various networking equipment from various vendors.

    · Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to write functional requirements, custom support processes, and specification documents.

    · Able to work independently and provide guidance to others on the team.

    · Has strong analytical skills and the ability to understand and address unique customer challenges.

    · Travel required when meeting onsite with large, enterprise customers (infrequent but mandatory).
