Our law firm client in Houston, Texas, has an immediate opening for a Legal Assistant to join their Corporate and Real Estate team. It is an exceptional working environment with a successful team of attorneys and paralegals as well as other supportive staff.
Responsibilities - Legal Assistant- Assist with drafting, managing, and organizing various documents related to real estate transactions, including escrow instructions, title and survey review, entity formations, Uniform Commercial Code and Secretary of State searches, local transfer requirements, and due diligence.
- Draft correspondence and prepare legal documents.
- Handle all aspects related to commercial real estate, transactional and corporate law, including contract summaries, calendaring.
- Prepare closing binders, and correspondence with the title companies, corporate filings in multiple states.
- Obtain employer identification numbers.
- Prepare, review, and organize legal documents such as contracts, leases, closing documents, and title commitments.
- Handle phone calls, emails, scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and performing general office tasks.
- Conduct legal research, investigating property records, and assist with due diligence related to real estate transactions.
- Assist with the closing process, including coordinating with title companies, lenders, and other parties.
- Maintain organized files (electronic), ensuring all documents are readily accessible.
- Prepare expense reimbursements to the accounting team.
- Prepare and submit new matter request forms and conflicts checks to the accounting team.
- Serve as a back-up legal assistant for coverage purposes.
Qualifications - Legal Assistant- 3-5 years of experience working with corporate and real estate attorneys is a requirement.
- High school degree is a requirement.
- Previous experience as a legal assistant.
- Law firm experience.
- Effective time management skills.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, and other professionals Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Capacity to work independently and take initiative when needed.
- Strong Legal Knowledge: Understanding of real estate law, legal terminology, and procedures.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy and thoroughness in document preparation and file management.
- Proficiency in Technology: Familiarity with legal document management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and other programs.
