Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant with 2+ years of relevant experience to join our growing accounting team. This role requires hands-on experience in both general ledger and cost accounting functions within a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate cost records, supporting inventory valuation, performing variance analysis, and assisting in financial reporting and month-end close processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and analyze standard costs of manufactured goods
Perform inventory accounting, including reconciliations, adjustments, and cycle count analysis
Analyze and report on manufacturing variances (PPV, usage, labor, overhead)
Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
Ensure the accuracy of the general ledger related to inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS)
Assist in developing and maintaining cost accounting systems and procedures
Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to understand and explain cost drivers and variances
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis related to manufacturing costs
Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audit processes
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
2+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
Solid understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles
Proficiency in general ledger accounting and inventory accounting
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) preferred
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills:
Experience with standard costing systems
Prior involvement in process improvement or ERP implementation projects
CPA or CMA designation (or progress toward) is a plus
