An innovative, high-growth company in the clean energy manufacturing sector is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager at their offices in Austin, TX. This role will work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, supply chain, and finance to implement cost accounting processes that support both deployed and in-process inventory.
Responsibilities
Design and implement cost accounting systems including standard costing for materials, labor, and overhead.
Lead configuration of ERP systems related to inventory and production accounting (e.g., BOMs, routings, item master).
Develop and enforce inventory and cost accounting policies in line with US GAAP.
Analyze material and production variances to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
Partner with operations, engineering, and supply chain to maintain inventory accuracy and support physical counts.
Own inventory valuation, reserves, and capitalization rules for tooling and system builds.
Support deployed system accounting including installations, component swaps, and returns.
Drive the month-end close process for all inventory-related accounts and reconciliations.
Educate internal teams on accounting best practices in cost and inventory management.
Roll up sleeves and contribute hands-on as needed; this is a ground-up, build-and-scale environment.
Qualifications
5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing or complex assembly environment.
Deep understanding of standard costing, BOMs, routings, and inventory controls.
Experience building accounting processes from scratch in high-growth or start-up environments.
Strong ERP skills; Odoo experience preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and ability to work with large data sets; SQL/BI tools a plus.
Clear communicator and cross-functional collaborator.
CPA or CMA designation preferred.
Previous experience in energy hardware, clean tech, or high-complexity product environments is a strong plus.
