Spring 2024 l Engineering Sales Intern

Are you ready to kick-start your career in engineering sales? Look no further! Cougar USA is on the hunt for our next spring Engineering Sales Intern to join our vibrant team!

    Our Unique Internship Program:

Our internship program is designed to offer undergraduate students a comprehensive insight into the dynamic world of engineering sales. Over the course of 8-10 weeks, you'll dive deep into the manufacturer's representative business model, explore the nuances of the plumbing and HVAC industry in commercial buildings, unravel the intricacies of the construction and design specification process, and master the art of the sales process in engineering sales.

Our next intern will assist Cougar’s current engineering sales rep in their role of selling our equipment to consulting engineering firms. The “sell” consists of specifying, scheduling and detailing our products on engineering plan sets for new construction and special projects in the commercial building setting. The intern will learn about plumbing and HVAC products in commercial buildings, and the process of selling to consulting engineers. They will present the final day of their employment with Cougar. The responsibilities during the internship include but are not limited to:

    Product Specification and Detailing:

Interns will collaborate with engineers to specify, schedule, and detail our plumbing and HVAC equipment on new construction plans. By understanding the needs and requirements of the projects, interns will actively contribute to the successful integration of our products into the design phase.

    Business Development Activities:

Interns will engage in various business development initiatives to foster relationships with consulting engineering firms. This includes organizing and participating in events such as "Coffee With Cougar," where interns will have the opportunity to connect with engineers in a casual setting. Additionally, interns will conduct Lunch and Learn Presentations to educate potential clients about our products and their advantages. Attending industry events will also be an integral part of this role.

    CRM and ERP Data Management:

The intern will be responsible for maintaining customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) data using platforms such as NetSuite, Dropbox, and other relevant software. This includes updating customer information, tracking interactions, and ensuring accurate and up-to-date data entry.

    Follow-up and Customer Service:

Interns will actively follow up on open opportunities, ensuring top-of-class customer service. This involves promptly addressing customer inquiries, providing product information, and assisting with any concerns or issues that may arise during the sales process. By delivering excellent customer service, interns will contribute to building and maintaining strong relationships with our clients.

Reporting (if necessary) The manager responsible for the intern will report back to the intern’s institution, if required, a review of the intern’s time at the company, their learning experience, and their opinion on the intern’s readiness for professional life after college and what they might need to work on.
