    DUI Counselor The Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse (CADA) is hiring a Counselor to work in our DUI treatment program, SB38. Interesting and rewarding position working with individuals referred by the courts to re-instate their driving capability. SB38 is the Senate Bill referring to a DUI program for repeat offenders that drivers must complete when they receive a second DUI conviction within 10 years of a prior DUI or wet and reckless conviction. Be a part of a robust team of Alcohol and Drug Counselors assisting individuals in our community who are managing their legal matters. This position provides valuable training for those interested in doing one on one counseling and group work with adults, as well as substance use education. Counselor will receive training and experience in assessment, case management, relapse prevention, and appropriate documentation of all of those services. Opportunity to work for well-established county-wide non-profit organization. Part time 20-30 hours per week. Afternoon/evening availability Monday-Friday is required for this position. Rate increase potential for bilingual (Spanish/English) & depending on prior training/experience.

    Qualifications: AOD registration/certification (registration can be in process). College degree or certificate in helping profession (Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, etc.) preferred, equivalent experience acceptable. Experience in the drug and alcohol field preferred. Specific knowledge of individual and group counseling principles and techniques, and of psychological testing and diagnostic procedures.

    • Ability to write appropriate professional letters and reports, to communicate verbally with judges, attorneys, and other professionals, as well as clients from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds. Job Duties Include: • Conduct client orientation meetings as required. • When necessary, administer, score, and interpret psychological tests, the results of which are used to gain a more accurate profile of each client. • Conduct individual interview sessions based upon the needs of each client. This includes aiding the clients in defining their personal goals, planning action reflecting their particular interests, abilities, and needs while moving the clients systematically through the intensive educational and treatment program of SB-38. • Conduct Education Classes (day or evening) when permitted by schedule, upon request from supervisor. • Perform case management including maintaining files properly documented with client's progress and attendance. • Support and collaborate with SB38 team, as well as involved supports, in advocacy for clients. Compensation DOE. This is an in-person position and candidate would be required to meet with clients onsite. CADA requires that all staff providing in-person services with clients receive the Covid-19 vaccine and booster.
