    The Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse (CADA) is seeking a Treatment Counselor to join its Project Recovery Adult Outpatient Treatment Services Team in Santa Barbara.

    CADA is a leading provider of life-changing treatment to adults struggling with drug and/or alcohol abuse and co-occurring mental health issues. Its Project Recovery Adult Treatment Program provides a range of services crucial to clients, their families, and contributes to the greater overall health and wellbeing of the community.

    REPORTS TO: Program Manager, Project Recovery

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    · College degree (A.A. or B.A.) or certificate in helping profession (e.g., Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, etc.) or equivalent experience. Experience in the field of alcohol/drug counseling strongly preferred.

    · Knowledge of resources for treatment, recovery, and rehabilitation in Santa Barbara County.

    · Ability to communicate verbally with professionals and with clients from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.

    · High standard of professional ethics.

    · English/Spanish bilingual and bicultural helpful.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    · Assist clients in identifying problem areas in the client’s life. Conduct a thorough comprehensive assessment using the American Society of Addiction Medicine’s (ASAM) screening. Use the ASAM results to identify the appropriate standard of care for client throughout their treatment episode.

    · Conduct daily individual and group substance abuse counseling, education, and relapse prevention sessions.

    · Use the guidelines of the Organized Delivery System of Care (ODS) to provide timely and appropriate client file documentation of all treatment services.

    · Maintain case notes that properly document the client’s progress and attendance. Case notes are to be to the ODS standard of documentation.

    · Keep abreast of the current literature and research in the field of alcoholism and drug addiction/abuse.

    · Assure that all treatment paperwork and records are accurately maintained and routed in a timely manner.

    · Uphold a professional image of the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and the Project Recovery program.

    · Perform additional related duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Director.

    The position is full time, 40 hours per week. All adult treatment counselors must maintain AOD registration or certification with the State of California (registration can be concurrent with hire and paid for by CADA). Paid training and weekly supervision provided to registered treatment counselors.

    Compensation is dependent of the level of prior experience, with a salary range of $22.00-$25.00, and a rate increase potential for bilingual (Spanish/English). Benefits for full time employees include health, dental, vision, life, retirement, and paid time off (vacation, sick, holiday).

    This is an in-person position, and the successful candidate would be required to meet with clients onsite.
