Job Summary
The Counter Salesperson is the first point of contact for customers visiting the store. This role requires a highly motivated, customer-oriented individual responsible for providing exceptional service, processing sales transactions, and addressing customer needs related to pressure washer sales, service, and parts. This individual must possess in-depth product knowledge to assist professional and retail clients in selecting the correct equipment, accessories, and cleaning solutions.
Key Responsibilities Customer Sales and Service
Greet and assist customers in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.
Engage with customers to understand their specific needs and recommend appropriate pressure washers, parts, and accessories for their commercial or residential applications.
Educate customers on product features, benefits, proper usage, and safety procedures.
Provide quotes, create sales orders, and process payments accurately using a cash register or computer system.
Handle customer complaints with diplomacy and escalate issues to management when necessary.
Answer incoming phone calls and emails, providing information and taking orders.
Follow up with customers on pending orders or service requests.
Equipment Service and Parts
Check-in commercial pressure washers and related equipment for service and repair.
Help determine merchandise required for customer service orders by reading catalogs or looking up parts in the computer system.
Advise customers on replacement options or modifications if a requested part is unavailable.
Inspect damaged or defective parts to determine if they fall under warranty.
Store Operations and Inventory
Maintain a clean, orderly, and attractive sales counter and showroom display area.
Monitor inventory levels and assist with restocking merchandise on shelves or racks.
Perform basic warehouse duties as needed, including receiving products, pulling customer materials, and loading equipment.
Conduct physical inventory counts as requested.
Keep up-to-date with new product information and special promotions.
Qualifications and Skills/Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Previous experience in retail sales, counter sales, or customer service.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and helpful attitude.
Basic computer proficiency for data entry, including the use of sales terminals, web browsers, and other business software.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for pricing and discounts.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy equipment (up to 50+ pounds).
Strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of commercial and retail pressure washers, equipment, and accessories.
Experience in the power equipment, industrial, or hardware supply industries.
Basic mechanical aptitude for discussing service and repair issues with customers.
Work Environment
The Counter Salesperson will work primarily at a service counter in a retail and commercial setting. The position may require occasional work in the warehouse or loading area. The work is physically demanding, involving lifting and standing for long periods.
