Job Summary:
Directs and coordinates workers' activities in the repair, maintenance, and installation of production equipment and facilities maintenance by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate personnel.
What You’ll Do:
Review job orders to determine work priorities.
Schedule repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
Coordinate activities and training of maintenance personnel.
Direct maintenance activities to provide a continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
Display knowledge of plant operational systems including refrigeration, electrical, air and piping, PLC-s, filling and packaging equipment, and support equipment.
Develop and conducts a Preventive Maintenance program in conjunction with production scheduling and maintenance staff.
Review production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
Plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
Review new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers. Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
Direct training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
Confer with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
Prepare department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in the budget. Completes projects on time and within budget.
Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and develops alternative solutions.
Display willingness to make decisions and exhibits sound and accurate judgment. Makes timely decisions and communicates changes effectively.
Include appropriate people in the decision-making process and supports and explain the reasoning for decisions.
Manage competing demands and change approaches or methods to best fit the situation.
Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events and reacts well under pressure.
Directly supervise hourly employees in the Maintenance Department.
What You’ll Need:
High school diploma or equivalent
3 to 5 years of related experience and/or training in a management position
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before groups.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Proficient in the use of Internet software; Inventory software; Project Management software; Maintenance Software (Maintenance Connection), Spreadsheet software (Excel), Word Processing software (Word), and Email Software (Office 365).
What’s a Plus:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a mechanical engineering or related field.
Boiler Certification (Stationary Engineer- Level 1 or 2).
Physical Demand
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, the employee may be required to enter production areas where the noise level is usually loud and hearing protection is required.
