CONTROLS ENGINEER
JOB DESCRIPTION: Employee will learn all aspects of the controls engineering and project management as well as project start-up and commissioning procedures pursuant to accepted Company and industry standards. Employee shall prepare submittal documents and other project documents according to the format as established. Employee shall at all times perform these duties according to all applicable professional standards of conduct.
CONTROLS ENGINEER - As the Controls Engineer you will be responsible for effectively and efficiently designing HVAC control systems on assigned projects to meet the criteria of contract plans and specifications. You will be expected to minimize installation problems and maximize profits. The Controls Engineer will attend project kick-off meetings for assigned projects and will prepare control system designs as specified by the mechanical engineer using established Company standards, while ensuring that equipment manufacturer recommendations are not compromised. The Controls Engineer will work with Company project managers and sales engineers, outside mechanical engineers, equipment manufacturer's representatives, and mechanical contractors to resolve system/equipment discrepancies and concerns during and after the design and submittal process. The Controls Engineer provides system drawings to the senior engineer for review at appropriate design stages for senior level engineering review and makes all necessary corrections.
A Controls Engineer is responsible for all engineering aspects of a project from the time it is booked by the sales department until it is completed, begins warranty and is passed to the Service Department.

Cowles Search does most of its work in the field of HVAC controls, building automation, plus fire/life-safety/security and contracting in general all around the United States. Primarily, the roles we fill are for Controls Engineers, Controls Technicians, and Sales Engineers. We will also work to recruit for Project Managers and other related roles in HVAC, building systems, contracting and energy conservation. Our common client is a Controls Contractor, anywhere from a 10-person company to a $100M company with hundreds of employees, and from small markets to very large metropolitan markets. In many markets, we are placing fire alarm, life safety and security (card access and CCTV) salespeople, system designers, IT/Network electricians, inspectors and management/leaders.
