SO. KELSO COMMUNITY OUTREACH ASSISTANT - JOB DESCRIPTION

Cowlitz County Habitat for Humanity (CCHFH) creates successful homeownership by partnering hardworking families in need with the community to build healthy, affordable homes and repair projects. This position presents an extraordinary opportunity to further develop and implement our long term work with the NRCC (Neighborhood Resource Coordination Council) and our NR (Neighborhood Revitalization) community focused programs in a dynamic organization poised for major growth and expansion.  This is a granted/limited term position will be funded by WSW (Workforce SW WA) via their THRIVE grant and supervised by the CCHFH CEO and NRCC Director.

This job requires 34-38 hours of work weekly; typically Monday through Friday during the business hours (9 am to 5 pm) with occasional evening and/or Saturday events or meetings.  These will be pre-approved and planned monthly as best as able.  This position runs through March 1, 2022.  We hope to find further funding to assist this position in the future, minimally part-time but this is all based on the ability to find grant support and if it continues to work within the scope and priority of Cowlitz County Habitat for Humanity.   This position is an employee of CCHFH and must follow all CCHFH’s guidelines, policies and procedures.

    JOB OVERVIEW:

To engage the So. Kelso residents through outreach and promotion of the NRCC.  To raise awareness of the organization in the community.  To organize residents around issues they are passionate about for community driven outcomes.  To coordinate and promote neighborhood support groups to enhance community health, wholeness and stability.  To support the mission of the CC NRCC and assist in its activities.

We are looking for a responsible and driven employee who wants to work with a committed team of neighborhood & community members and staff.  This position requires a focused individual who can tackle many projects, personalities and schedules in order to support the needs of the So. KEY RESPONSIBIILITES:

    ·         Work with Kelso City officials, CCHFH’s CEO and NRCC Director to establish a clear vision and implementation of the SKNA.  Currently, this has recently been replaced with a “RESOURCE CENTER” as opposed to actual dedicated  So. ·         With group named above, work on identifying a temporary and eventual permanent location for a neighborhood association building/location.  Preferably one that is independent and not shared (example:  use of school or church or business building).  Work with residents and other community partners through NRCC that can help with managing center.

o   At this time, due to pandemic restrictions, an assigned time at the CCHFH office or preferably at the HNA community center in joint effort with the HNA outreach coordinator (for safety and cross-training purposes), will work at this location a minimum of 2 or 3 mornings per week.  CCHFH will provide a computer and software at one or both of these sites as needed.   With the HNA CC center currently closed to public, this will allow not only appropriate location for health/safety but will provide necessary time to input data, make phone calls, plan week, distribute necessary community documents,  zoom meetings, etc.

    ·         Review current So. Kelso revitalization plan and begin recruiting and seeking support and updating.  This will require many community meetings to educate and review current status and needs.  We would utilize the HNA as a model plan.

    ·         Work with current newly formed R-ASK board and develop additional members, committees/committee support and resident participation.  These meetings and requests will initially be requested to have approval from the NRCC Director and/or CCHFH CEO.

    ·         Begin looking at feasibility for implementation of the “TIME BANK” and “ADOPT-a-BLOCK” programs with support from CCHHF and NRCC.
