    Position Overview

    We are seeking a skilled and dependable Crane Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The Crane Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining cranes and other heavy equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety.

    Key Responsibilities

    Crane & Equipment Maintenance

    Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems on cranes and heavy equipment.

    Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, fluid checks, and routine inspections.

    Troubleshoot and repair engine, transmission, brake, steering, and hydraulic system issues.

    Use diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and software to identify mechanical and electrical faults.

    Conduct safety inspections and ensure equipment complies with manufacturer specifications and applicable regulations.

    Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and repair documentation.

    Collaborate with supervisors and team members to prioritize repairs and minimize equipment downtime.

    Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.

    Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while keeping tools and equipment in good working condition.

    Qualifications

    High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training in heavy equipment, diesel technology, or a related field preferred.

    Minimum of 2 years of experience as a crane mechanic, diesel technician, heavy equipment mechanic, or related role.

    Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems used in cranes and heavy equipment.

    Experience using diagnostic tools and repair software.

    Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.

    Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation.

    Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience maintaining mobile cranes, crawler cranes, boom trucks, or other lifting equipment.

    Familiarity with OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, and crane inspection procedures.

    Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.

    Experience with fleet maintenance programs and preventative maintenance scheduling.

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.

    Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.

    Ability to work at heights and outdoors in various weather conditions.

    Exposure to noise, dust, grease, hydraulic fluids, and diesel fumes.

    Ability to safely operate shop equipment, power tools, and lifting devices.
