    Job Overview

    Strategically manages their categories to increase sales, total gross dollars, and market share versus prior year and to meet or exceed projected numbers. Creates and implements pricing, promotion, assortment and shelf planograms for each assigned category, based on detailed analysis of past performance and results, industry best practices, and consumer trends. This level is considered a fully experienced level. Incumbents are able to independently handle complex issues affecting assigned categories and create innovative solutions

     

    • Analyze product profitability, selection, display and assortment using category management practices.
    • Budgets and monitors sales and margin plans of assigned categories in accordance with personal and company overall goals.
    • Manages the tracking of vendor performance by all available metrics; fill rates, rejections, timeliness, etc.
    • Communicate every day, seasonal, and promotional schematics and execution timeliness and strategies to store level.
    • Coordinate and manage competitive market surveys.
    • Coordination and supervision of all retail pricing for each price and promotional region.
    • Oversees competitive analysis, including auditing competitive product selection, displays and pricing through on-site visits and market research.
    • Develops strategies vendor partners on product innovation and improvement; presentation, packing, pricing, assortment and shrink.
    • Presents information (i.e., category budget overviews, accounting processes etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, gaining feedback, and ensuring adherence to establish internal controls.
    • Organizes and participates in meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information to perform functions.
    • Develops long and short range category plans for the purpose of expanding the department programs and/or ensuring that company resources are effectively utilized.
    • Support department resets, remodels, and new store openings as appropriate.
    • Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships.
    • Supply clear directions for new and existing stores on proper department layout, schematics, opening orders, programs and training.
    • Coordinate and source vendor participation for new store openings and resets.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • BA/BS in Business or related field required.
    • Successful 5-year track record in a retail organization
    • Knowledge of dispensed beverage equipment, types, functions, and comfort with reading technical manuals.
    • Working knowledge of the food chain and market conditions that influence it.
    • ServSafe certification is a plus, or demonstrable knowledge of best practices regarding food safety.
    • Experience interacting with local health officials.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills.
