    Job Description

    The CEO reports to the Board of Directors.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

    The CEO is responsible for boldly leading the organization in achievement of the stated mission, vision and long- and short-term strategies. Additionally, duties include and are not limited to the following:

    The CEO functions as a:

    STRATEGIC CHANGE AGENT to:

    §  Inspire a culture of passion for the mission leading to innovative programming that eliminates racism and empowers women.

    §  Create a presence as the beacon of hope in the local community.

    §  Develop new business models that leverages the strength of partners. 

    §  Challenge the established norms leading to new opportunities.

    §  Align all efforts with the their mission, vision, goals, and standards.

    §  Motivate the board and staff toward these ends while sustaining a high level of morale and excellence by valuing and appreciating diversity.

    §  Carry the mission and vision of the organization forward through services, relationships, advocacy, change management, and overall asset growth. 

    §  Promote their work and results of the work to increase engagement and financial support.

    VISIONARY / RESOURCE to:

    §  Ensure staff and board have complete and up-to-date information for decision making.

    §  Look to the future and pursue capacity building opportunities.

    §  Sustain positive and productive relationships with the board, and among staff.

    §  Cultivate and sustain positive and productive relationships between them and other service providers, funders,  and community leaders. 

    RELATIONSHIP BUILDER to:

    §  Partner with the Board Chair to recruit, acquire, train and retain mission committed, skilled board members.

    §  Develop relationships with key individuals within the community who to establish partnerships, donors, and supporters.

    COLLABORATIVE DECISION MAKER to:

    §  Formulate, recommend, and implement strategies to build organizational strength and grow financial assets by leveraging the skills and interests of staff.

    §  Determine / guide operational courses of action to sustain organizational strength and momentum.

    MANAGER, to:

    §  Present and oversee the delivery of relevant, quality programs with knowledgeable, enthusiastic and consistent service delivery staff.

    §  Oversee operations and ensure optimum service delivery and administration.

    §  Implement plans and evaluate progress.

    §  Oversee the organization’s human resource function to ensure competence and excellence.

    §  Oversee the organization’s financial and physical resource functions to ensure ongoing vitality.

    PROMOTER, ADVOCATE AND COLLABORATOR to:

    §  Steadily increase member/client, and public knowledge of their strengths and accomplishments, and attract and involve new members/supporters, and renew increasing numbers of supporters

    §  Represent and effectively communicate the organization to the public, the media, grant makers and current and potential donors throughout the communities being served.

    §  Make visible and forward their public policy agenda.

     

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position requires supervision for the Leadership Team  

     

    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

     

    EDUCATION

     

    •        Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Business or Public Administration, Women's Studies, or related area required; master's degree preferred.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES)

     

    •        Minimum eight (8) years professional experience in leadership and administration in the public sector or private not-for-profit organization, including financial, human resources and program management, as well as fund raising. 

    •        Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience working on racial equity issues, with increasing levels of responsibility.

    •        Proven ability to develop, facilitate, and champion equity initiatives (within an organization and/or within a community or partnership setting).

    •        Demonstrated experience advocating for the empowerment of women and girls and the elimination of racism.

    •        A proven track record of growing organizational capacity and programmatic impact.

    •        Proven abilities and experience in fiscal management and preparing and securing Board approval for a complex budget of at least $5M annually.

    •        Passion for creative program creation and organizational funding growth.

    •        Demonstrated ability to create organizational designs to support the strategic goals.

    •        Experience with leading strategic planning efforts and monitoring progress.

    •        Experience in creating and establishing clear, measurable business goals

    •        Outstanding communication skills and ability to work well with media, staff, board, and the community.

    ·         Demonstrate ability to work well with people of various ethnic, racial and socio-economic backgrounds.

    ·         Demonstrate ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.

    ·         Non-judgmental attitude, sensitive to confidential information.
