    Head of Accounting Policy & Group Reporting

    The Head of Accounting Policy and Group Reporting is a technical expert who will be responsible for monitoring the latest accounting standards for the multiple legal entities. The position will report to the Controller and play a key role in defining and documenting accounting standards and related financial statement disclosures. The Accounting Policy and Group Reporting Manager will manage special projects, including IFRS implementation and related quarterly reporting.

    Responsibilities:

    • The Head of Accounting Policy and Group Reporting will monitor for changes to accounting standards (US GAAP, IFRS and SAP), evaluate and document impacts.
    • Formalize documentation of existing accounting policies and elections.
    • Lead implementation efforts for new standards through the development of detailed policies and technical plans to ensure smooth transitions.
    • The Head of Accounting Policy and Group Reporting will coordinate review of new and existing policies with internal and external auditors.
    • Research and analyze complex transaction or technical accounting and disclosure issues by applying applicable accounting guidance and preparing detailed documentation to support conclusions. Concisely communicate actions needed to senior leadership.
    • The Head of Accounting Policy and Group Reporting will assist in the development and manage critical milestones, timelines, detailed plans and analytical reports for the IFRS implementation. Work directly with various internal departments and external parties to ensure successful adoption. Participate in the vendor selection and related implementation of new accounting software or systems.
    • The Head of Accounting Policy and Group Reporting will be responsible for quarterly financial statement preparation on a IFRS basis
    • Assist in special projects as necessary. This may include and not be limited to implementation of a new system and refinement of the existing systems in the department.
    • Lead the execution of all accounting policies and complex transaction controls; coordinate recurring control reviews conducted by external auditors, internal auditors and others.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
    • Master’s in accounting or taxation preferred.
    • CPA required.
    • 8 or more years, with public accounting insurance experience or a combination of public and property and casualty insurance industry experience preferred.
    • Strong technical accounting knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS and SAP with expertise in IFRS 17 and IFRS 9 a plus.
    • Prior experience operating within a SOX 404/JSOX control environment is a plus.
