CONTROLLER – RESTAURANT GROUP

- We are working with a well-respected restaurant group that is looking for their next Controller to join their team. This firm has an established business of restaurants, bars and event catering for the most well renowned hotels and areas in the NYC metro area as well as Los Angeles
- They are in the process of adding additional restaurants with their Chef in Charge who is famous in the culinary scene
- The pandemic has not slowed this business down and in fact they are expanding more with the backing of a very secure management group
- The Controller / Director of Finance will not operate as a Bookkeeper. They have a staff accountant who will report to the Controller who will take care of the day to day. They need someone who is invested in their organization, will oversee and work of the accounting/HR/Operations teams and will be a strategic partner to the General Manager as well as Chef and investors

- This role will be onsite at one of the Hotels in the Penn Station, Midtown area. There will be some flexibility to work from home on certain days
WHAT WILL BE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CONTROLLER IN THIS POSITION?
- Maintaining relationship with managers and being tactful with cost cutting and other ways to help the group grow
- Being fiscally responsible, reviewing and reporting on daily cash received as well as monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting to the investors
- Working on ways to grow the business, streamlining process, working on costs and expenses all to help with the bottom line
- Prepare year-end financial statements to provide to auditors and tax preparers
- Assist with requests and questions regarding year-end audit and tax return preparation
EXPERIENCE YOU WOULD BRING AS THE CONTROLLER:
- 5+ years of accounting experience with at least 2 years in the restaurant/ hospitality or event catering business
- Computer savvy with Microsoft products including Outlook and Excel; proficient in Quickbooks and POS systems
- Knowledge of and the ability to interpret GAAP and clearly communicate accounting concepts
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
- Ability to work and function independently
- Energetic, passionate and desire to learn and grow within the role
