Senior Commercial Credit Analyst

This person will be responsible for providing competent and complete credit analysis for complex lending activities and assistance in the completion of special projects and assignments. Analyzes credit data to estimate degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money to businesses or individuals.
Position Requirements and Qualifications:
Minimum of three to five years working in an analyst (or equivalent) position spreading financial statements and writing analytical memos to effectively communicate all facets of the underwriting analysis on commercial business and commercial real estate loans. Additional practical experience in dealing with or supervising the day-to-day activities of the credit support function, including some customer interactions, would be valuable. It would also be valuable to know what documentation is required to perfect liens on most types of collateral.
Additional Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required and major/emphasis in Accounting, Business, or Finance preferred
- Possess good interpersonal communication (both written and oral), and excellent organizational skills.
- Must be self-motivated and able to prioritize duties to meet assigned deadlines.
- Prior supervisory experience a plus.
- Outlook, Word, and Excel proficiency required.
- Experience with Jack Henry core system a plus.
- Ability to travel occasionally for training and/or support of bank operations.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains a database of analytical summaries and memos to document underwriting structure and analysis for various credits as assigned, typically on credits in excess of $100,000.
- Analyzes and spreads borrowers’ financial statements, ensuring adequate cash flow, financial status, and credit, to measure current and planned exposures of risk in order to maintain and enhance the credit quality of the Banks’ entire loan portfolio.
- Confirms financial data in the credit memo is valid and adequate to determine a decision outcome on a specific credit request, including analysis prepared by respective lenders.
- Computes and performs global cash flow analysis and stress testing as part of the individual credit analysis, when necessary.
- Tracks and performs annual post-funding reviews and covenant compliance for existing credit relationship. Identifies and documents fluctuations in financial condition as determined in review of annual balance sheets, tax returns and/or profit and loss statements.
- Analyzes, reviews and monitors individual loan requests for completeness, credit worthiness, and eligibility, ensures compliance to established guidelines and documents potential exceptions to loan policy, noting exceptions to any of these factors and directly communicating all noted potential exceptions to the lender.
- Identifies exposures to the bank and communicates borrower issues and exceptions that may have an adverse impact on the corporate goals.
- Prepares written reviews of real estate evaluations and evaluations of existing appraisals as needed.
- Communicates verbally and in writing with all loan officers when analyzing various credits, as may be assigned.
- Provides, upon request, analysis of financial documentation from vendors of the Bank.
- Ensure that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
- Supervises and provides guidance to junior analyst(s) on analytical considerations, loan structure, approval processes, legal documentation required and loan servicing
- Evaluates staff’s work performance by preparing annual reviews and conducting counseling sessions as needed.
- Assists and advises staff regarding policies and procedures for credit analysis and related lending functions.
- Schedules and supervises staff work flow and quality.
- Has a clear understanding and complies with all bank policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
- Completes assignments in an efficient manner; establishes supportive working relationships with all employees to promote a team atmosphere while producing high quality work output.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting and supporting other departments as needed
- Participate in and complete all training/education available in a timely manner to stay abreast of the demands and requirements of the position.
