    Job Description

    POSITION TITLE: Controller

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Responsible for the accounting operations of the Credit Union, to include overseeing the accuracy and timeliness of the accounting records, preparation of standard internal and external financial reports, and maintenance of internal controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the Credit Union’s reported results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles, as well as state and federal credit union regulations.

    To the extent your job duties require this you will be responsible for complying with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC) rules, Anti Money Laundering Act (AML), Customer Identification Procedures (CIP) and the Credit Union’s policies that address those rules or Acts.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1.    Oversee accurate and efficient full cycle accounting operations, internal controls, and financial reporting for the Credit Union.

    2.    Responsible for the chart of accounts and necessary internal controls over the general ledger to include appropriate reconciling processes, software application, and segregation of duties.

    3.    Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reporting of the Credit Union, including the quarterly NCUA 5300 report.

    4.    Perform various financial analysis and reporting as assigned by the CFO.

    5.    Maintain a documented system of accounting internal controls, policies, and procedures.

    6.    Manage the accuracy and productivity of the daily and monthly activities of exception processing, accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaid expense, and general ledger accounting.

    7.    Cash management and liquidity monitoring.

    8.    Backup for ACH and check exception processing.

    9.    Ensure accounting records and reports follow GAAP and government regulations. Assist with external audit and regulatory exams as appropriate.

    1. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.

    2. Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of assigned personnel and ensure quality of work and service to members, managers and staff. Effectively apply management practices in leading the work of assigned personnel.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    1.    Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited college or university.

    2.    Five years of similar accounting department leadership experience, preferably in a banking or credit union environment.

    3.    Knowledge in share draft and ACH exception processing, deposit clearing, and back-office banking procedures preferred.

    4.    Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

    Candidates must be available to work in person Monday through Friday from 7:30 am – 4:30 pm.

    Annual Salary Range:  $100,000 - $110,000
