    Job Summary

    We are an organic garden and landscaping company seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Crew Members to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for outdoor work and possess skills in various landscaping and garden work tasks. As a Crew Member, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the beauty and functionality of our clients' properties through garden maintenance, garden installation, and landscaping assistance. We are a friendly and laid back team and pride ourselves on offering a safe, respectful, and comfortable work environment. Our company is expanding quickly and we are also offering project manager positions to exceptional employees with diverse skillsets.

    All employees will be hired on a temporary, probationary basis and offered continued part-time employment based on performance. All work is "on the books". You will be required to complete tax and employment eligibility forms. Employment may be contingent upon the successful completion of a drug test and background check in accordance with applicable laws. You will also be required to agree to our Company Handbook. Work references are required.

    Compensation

    Probationary Period (100 work hours): $25 per hour

    Post-Probation: $30 per hour and up (dependent on specific job/skills ect.); opportunities for further advancement in management, benefits, sales commissions, and bonus pay on top of hourly pay.

    Work Areas

    We are based in Red Hook, NY 12571 and service select areas of the Hudson Valley region. We work within a 25 miles radius of the center of Red Hook. Common cities are towns serviced include Red Hook, Tivoli, Germantown, Rhinebeck, Staatsburg, Stanfordville, Hudson, and Kingston. Work locations are not accessible by bus or train. You must have a reliable vehicle to work with us.

    Work Schedule & Availability

    Work Schedule: Part time employee, up to 28 hours per week. Weekly schedule may fluctuate depending on project needs, weather conditions, and mutually agreed upon employee availability. The company operates Monday through Saturday between the hours of 6am and 7pm. Crew Supervisors are expected to have at least 4 days between Monday and Friday available to schedule work, and open to working occasional Saturdays. Supervisors must also be open to full time, up to 40 hours per week (discussed) as company expands.

    You must have days and times each week that you are consistently available. We expect all employees to show up to work as scheduled as a condition of employment.

    Please note that inclement weather (rain), or third party circumstances may result in same day before or same day cancellation of work. This is the normal nature of landscaping work and is outside of our control, but we do our best to avoid schedule changes and will give you as much notice as possible if a work day must be cancelled, delayed, or rescheduled!

    We are seeking reliable workers to stay on schedule with company deadlines. We can not continue employment with employees who are consistently late, call out often, or ask to leave early. If employed, you understand that reliability is a condition of maintaining employment, and that multiple instances of tardiness or call outs may result in termination. This condition, and others, will be outlined in detail the Company Employee Handbook.

    Job Interviews

    Protocol: Interviews may be in person or via Google video-call. Time Slots available Monday through Saturday, from 8am to 7pm.

    Attention To Detail: Our clients pay very close attention to detail and this skill is required for employment. You MUST be able to follow instructions accurately and must not be afraid to ask questions if you are unsure!

    Safety Consciousness: While our company is very mindful of safety, there is always a chance of injury when engaged in physical labor. All employees are expected to follow all company rules regarding safety, wear appropriate footwear, gloves, and safety gear, and exercise reasonable judgement while working or using tools

    Reliability: You will be asked for you availability, if employed. While we offer flexible scheduling, you are expected to show up to work when scheduled and on time.

    Respect: You are expected to be kind and courteous to all employees, managers, contractors, and homeowners at all times.

    Trustworthiness: We expect honesty in all areas. Be advised, there will usually be a company manager on site, and many of our clients do monitor their properties.

    Health Consciousness: We are an ORGANIC garden company! We do not use any chemicals or pesticides in our work.

    Drug-Free: Drug use (whether legal or illegal) of any kind is strictly prohibited before or during work. This include the prohibition of marijuana and any type of alcohol. Employees may be required to submit to drug tests (for hard drugs/illegal substances). Possession of illegal substances is ground for immediate termination. Cigarette smoking or vaping is not permitted close homes or work areas.

    Crew Supervisor Responsibilities

    Job Description: Oversee and delegate tasks for gardening crew members and communicate with clients on site. Work alongside crew to complete garden maintenance, garden installation, and landscaping work. Note, you must be able to consistently walk, stand, bend, push, pull, and lift over the course of a shift (typically 4 to 8 hours with structured breaks) for this position. You are also expected to be able to lift or move at least 50 lbs at a time. Key responsibilities include the following:

    Have an exceptional knowledge of plants (identification etc.), organic gardening methods, and landscaping.

    Be comfortable with, and have experience in the proper and safe use of manual, electric, and gas powered tools and equipment commonly used in garden/landscaping work (weed whackers, brush cutters, tillers, chainsaws, walk-behind equipment, etc.)

    Be willing to learn new methods, tools, and equipment as needed to complete jobs

    Supervise crew members to ensure work is being done safely, as instructed, and to a high quality standard

    Communicate with clients on site in regards to work and facilitate communication between clients and the General Manager as needed

    Accurately tracking crew member arrival and departure times, as well as all break times and durations

    Willing to be issued a set of company job tools for use on job sites (usually a tote approx. 2ft x2ft x3 ft in size)

    Be willing to perform occasional poison ivy removal (all PPE gear provided by company)

    Have excellent endurance for heavy lifting as needed

    Prepare garden beds by weeding, cultivating, and amending soil.

    Plant perennials, annuals, shrubs, and trees according to design plans or manager instruction.

    Spread mulch, compost, and other soil amendments.

    Water, fertilize, and prune plants as needed.

    Moving bulk materials on work sites as needed (such as loose soil, compost, mulch, gravel, or stone) via wheelbarrow or other reasonable method

    Using the appropriate tools and equipment provided to complete or facilitate completion of work

    Maintain tools and equipment in clean, working order.

    Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate gear.

    Assist with loading/unloading materials and site cleanup.

    Work as part of a team to complete tasks efficiently and professionally.

    Completion of other common tasks related to gardening and landscaping

    *Note that power tool and heavy equipment use is reserved for managers, specialists, and employees properly experienced or trained in or instructed on safe operation. Crew members are not permitted to use electric or gas powered tools unless cleared by the General Manager. Crew Supervisors are not expected to use very high risk equipment, such as excavators, unless properly licensed/experienced. Additional pay may apply for operation of such equipment.

    Experience

    History of management and leadership roles

    Strong level of professionalism and comfortability communicating with clients

    Knowledge of specific plants and trees (ability to identify, plant care, etc.)

    Extensive previous experience in gardening, landscaping.

    Extensive previous experience using manual and powered tools and equipment

    A willingness to learn new skills related to gardening and landscaping.

    Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work as part of a team are crucial for success in this role.

    Requirements

    We require all employees to complete a Federal Tax Form (W-4), New York State tax Form (IT-2104) and Employment Eligibility Form (i-9).

    A valid New York photo ID or US Passport.

    Ability to provide employment history and 3 work references submitted with resume.

    Required to read, agree to, and sign our Company Employee Handbook, which reviews job expectations, dress code, professional code of conduct, company rules, and other important information.
