Technical Software Engineering Manager (Content Discovery)
Job Description
We are looking for a passionate Engineering Manager to join our Software Engineering team focused on helping drive content discovery. In this position, you will work collaboratively with a diverse set of teams and backgrounds to help drive a data driven personalized discovery experience. You’ll contribute to building out highly scalable services, with emphasis on performance and optimization, using the latest tools and techniques. What You’ll Do:
A Technical Software Engineering Manager specializing in content discovery that will code up to 30% of the time
Work to improve discovery and relevance, utilizing both machine learning models and conventional data driven techniques
Develop implementations of patterns to solve real world problems and provide guidance to implementation teams
Lead discussions on architectural best practices, advise on cloud best practices
Evangelize engineering principles internally and externally
Work with systems that run billions of transactions, and keep them updated and honest
Qualifications
BS/MS in computer science or equivalent experience
10+ years professional experience in Software Engineering
5+ years working experience developing highly efficient personalized experiences in software
Strong experience in C#, .NET Framework and technology
Experience with Cloud Native architectures and technologies, designing and implementing RESTful APIs, and architecting, developing, and maintaining cloud-based web services (AWS preferred)
Experience in related fields such as recommendation systems is a bonus
You have exposure to data analysis with respect to personalization, including but not limited to impressions
Experience with A/B testing tools is preferred
Strong debugging/troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of agile quality and testing methods preferred (BDD, TDD, Unit Testing and Automation)
Deep knowledge of concurrency, resiliency, and caching
Experience in continuous delivery and integration
Excited and experienced working with a team to achieve a common goal
Actively listen to and support teammates, and embrace different ways of thinking
Curious about emerging technologies; can quickly evaluate and adapt to new technologies
Experience with relational and non-relational database technologies
