Responsibilities: • Represent clients in court to argue motions during legal proceedings • Analyze client needs, identify solutions, and determine case strategies • Counsel clients by assessing options and determining the best course of action for a successful outcome • Passion for lawyering and being in the courtroom making a difference • Honesty is critical and good ethical character is essential • Love connecting with people • Passionate about helping others • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment • Treats a 4:30 call on Friday with the same care and compassion as one on Monday morning • Exceptional curiosity - Ownership mindset Qualifications: • Communication, problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, and public speaking skills required • Work independently while handling a heavy caseload • 3+ years of Criminal Law experience • Former prosecutor or public defender experience strongly preferred: We have 2 former DA's, 1 former PD, and 1 former Magistrate on staff. While we value the prosecutor mindset, we also highly value the client management skills of a Public Defender for this role. • High Emotional Intelligence (EQ): You must be able to navigate difficult situations with grace.
