Providence Staffing’s client is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Criminal Defense Attorney to join their team in Yuma, AZ. The ideal candidate will manage a dynamic caseload, providing comprehensive legal support from intake to case resolution. This role requires a self-starter with a strong understanding of criminal defense law, exceptional analytical and communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced courtroom environment. The successful applicant will possess excellent problem-solving abilities, be adaptable to change, and demonstrate a high level of technical proficiency with various legal and office software programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research, draft and edit pleadings, manage case files, and communicate effectively with clients.
 - Handle a broad range of criminal cases, including misdemeanors and felonies, such as assault, domestic violence, criminal traffic charges, drug offenses, DUI, and theft crimes.
 - Conduct client meetings, develop case strategies, and provide expert legal guidance.
 - Delegate tasks to paralegals and legal assistants while overseeing the quality of their work.
 - Manage all aspects of felony and misdemeanor cases, including discovery, pleadings, motions, pretrial hearings, motion hearings, and trials (bench and jury).
 - Represent clients in hearings and trials, presenting compelling oral arguments in support of their legal interests.
 - Interview witnesses, visit crime scenes, and review evidence to build strong defense cases.
 - Draft motions, legal briefs, correspondence, and other essential legal documents.
 - Conduct legal analyses and effectively communicate findings to clients, court personnel, and stakeholders.
 - Travel to courts, jails, detention centers, and correctional facilities as needed.
 - Lead and collaborate with a team of legal professionals, including attorneys, mitigation specialists, investigators, and paralegals.
 
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Licensed to practice law in Arizona and in good standing with the State Bar.
 - Minimum of 1 year of experience in criminal law handling felony cases (defense or prosecution).
 - Strong ability to analyze case law and apply legal principles effectively.
 - Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
 - Valid Arizona driver’s license, maintained throughout employment.
 - Professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
 - Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative legal team.
 - Proficiency in Windows software, Microsoft Office Suite, Google products, and time management software.
 - Willingness to handle all aspects of legal work, including administrative tasks as necessary.
 
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of $110,000 - $150,000 annually, commensurate with experience and performance.
