    CRI MENTOR

CRIMSON RESEARCH INSTITUTE (CRI) is one of our academic programs that provides capable high school students with an opportunity to pursue their research interests across various fields. CRI Mentors work with students via video call (Zoom) and email to guide them towards completing a small independent research project such as a literature review or a research paper. The work represents a fantastic opportunity to help aspiring high school students develop their skills and discover a passion for research.

    Role description:

CRI mentors are PhD students, postdocs, lecturers or professors who work with high-performing and capable high school students towards completing small independent research projects in their discipline/area(s) of expertise. Mentors work one-on-one with students via video call (Zoom) and email. The different CRI program durations vary from 10 to 40+ hours per student, with deliverables ranging from a literature review to a full research paper.

The CRI program is a four-module program:

    • Module 1: Research Foundations (taught internally)
    • MODULE 2: LECTURE MODULE (TAUGHT BY CRI MENTOR)
    • MODULE 3: RESEARCH MODULE (TAUGHT BY CRI MENTOR)
    • Module 4: Publication module (taught by CRI mentor)

    What you'll be responsible for:

Working closely with a variety of students based across the world - including the US, Asia, Australia and Europe. Conducting 1-on-1 sessions with students and guiding them in your field of study, research, or expertise during Module 2 (Lecture), Module 3 (Research) and Module 4 (Publication). You will also be expected to provide updates on your student's progress at various checkpoints throughout their CRI program.

What kind of students will you be working with:

To be selected for the CRI program, students must possess excellent grades, interest in their chosen field, excellent time management skills, and fluency in English. CRI is designed for high academic achievers who are intellectually curious, motivated, and ready to take their knowledge of a particular subject to the next level. These students are self-driven and strive to complete work at the level of current undergraduates.

No past research experience is necessary for students to sign up. We expect our CRI Mentors to provide all relevant instruction and guidance necessary for a student to complete their desired research project, conditional upon the student completing assigned work. Per every hour of interaction with a mentor, students are expected to contribute 6-9 hours of independent work.
