    The school opened in 2008 and now has nearly 300 students in grades 9 through 12. All students complete a challenging college preparatory curriculum and as part of Cristo Rey’s innovative Corporate Work Study program (CWS), spend one day per week engaged in a corporate work assignment at or on behalf of leading companies and not-for-profits throughout the NYC metropolitan area. Cristo Rey Brooklyn High School is a member of the national Cristo Rey Network of 38 high schools around the United States committed to similar academic and work study methodologies and outcomes.

    PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

    The Alumni Relations and Support Counselor (Counselor) reports to the Director of College Guidance and Alumni Support (Director), is an integral member of the College Guidance Team, working closely with College Guidance and other CRB staff. The Counselor will also have a “dotted line” reporting responsibility to the CRB Advancement Department working regularly with Advancement staff and CRB leadership on a variety of alumni related support, cultivation and development initiatives, policies, and programs.

    The Counselor’s primary objective is to assist and facilitate the continued educational, professional and personal growth and success of CRB’s alumni. It is also an expectation that the Counselor will cultivate alumni to become ongoing supporters of and advocates on behalf of CRB, with this latter goal assuming increasing importance over time as the school’s alumni base continues to grow and mature.

    The Counselor will:

    Develop/maintain working relationships and communication with CRB alumni and the colleges/universities where those alumni are currently enrolled in or have attended.

    Conduct virtual financial aid workshops, assist with post-secondary scholarship applications, identify alumni in need of emergency education funding and assist with securing financial assistance

    Engage recent alumni encountering higher education issues or challenges, financial or otherwise, to assist in developing and executing possible solutions (Phone calls, emails, social media outreach, visits)

    Re-engage alumni who are inactive or have withdrawn from higher education to assist with possible re-enrollment and transfer processes (Phone calls, emails, social media outreach, visits)

    Successfully build and manage the Alumni database (Gradforce)

    Track alumni communications

    Track and report alumni retention and persistence

    Organize and coordinate alumni engagement and cultivation events (Reunions, career events, alumni panel and focus groups)

    Collaborate with the Advancement Department to cultivate alumni to become ongoing benefactors of CRB, including linkage of respective data bases/CRM systems (Gradforce and Donor Perfect)

    In partnership with the college counseling team, organize and coordinate alumni visits, college visits and tours for current seniors. Present during College Nights to parents and guardians

    Assist with summer programming for rising seniors and first-year undergraduate students

    Coordinate and collaborate with the Advancement Department, CRB Leadership and Staff on planning, implementation and execution of special programs and events.

    Other duties as assigned by the Director of College Guidance, and with the concurrence of the College Guidance Director, the Director of Advancement

    Schedule: This is a year-round (12 month) position, Monday through Friday (with some evenings and weekends for events). The position will entail some travel/offsite work visiting colleges and meeting with alumni. The expectation is to work on-site when not in the field visiting alumni or colleges.

    Preferred Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated experience in most or all these areas:

    Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 3+ years of professional work experience

    Background working with students of high school/college age and/or experience in alumni relations

    Strong organizational skills, thorough in managing daily tasks and ongoing projects.

    Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills

    Ability to support various stakeholders, be proactive, and work collaboratively in a team setting

    Familiarity with software programs such as Salesforce, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite. Experience with directly relevant programs such as Gradforce or Donor Perfect a strong plus
