Preschool Teacher
PRINCIPAL FUNCTION:
Instructs preschool children in activities designed to promote emotional, physical, mental, social and spiritual development within a creative, Christian context. Establishes a joy for learning and positively shapes the students' view of themselves, their Creator, and the world around them.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A spiritually committed believer possessing active Christian traits and values.
Possession of a bachelor's degree, preferably in early childhood education or in another suitable field, or equivalent experience.
A minimum of one year commensurate experience dealing with the educational needs of children, preferably in a Christian setting.
Meets state health and safety requirements, including background check, finger printing and medical testing.
Completion of the 40 hour DCF training courses or evidence of registration into one of these courses within 90 days of hire, or equivalent status.
Must be in good health and fitness in order to actively demonstrate and participate in children's activities.

One character reference letter from a church leader
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans individual and group activities that are God-centered to stimulate learning according to the age and individualized needs of the children.
Written weekly lesson plans provide for a well-balanced program consisting of developmental center activities, large group time, music and Christian instruction.
Communicates effectively with parents and Program Administrator to inform them of the students' progress, needs and issues.
Responsible for the on-going management and decorum of the classroom. Carries out discipline in a productive, Christian manner according to documented procedures.
Attends monthly staff meetings and other called meetings to coordinate program activities.
Responsible for general straightening of the classroom following the school day so that supplies and materials remain organized according to outlined procedures.
Continues professional development through attendance at in-service training programs.
May perform other associated duties as assigned by the Program Administrator.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Classroom Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Normal Employment – August-May
Reporting Status: Accountable to Program Administrator
