    OVERVIEW:

    The mission of EODTEU-ONE is to educate students from the United States Naval Expeditionary Force and other government agencies in high-risk environments to meet the Fleet Response Training Plan (FRTP) and support combatant commander and Navy requirements. Prepare them morally, mentally, and physically to succeed across the full range of military operations.

    The EOD Instructor will perform training services for Explosive Ordnance Disposal Training and Evaluation Unit One (EODTEU-ONE) courses of instruction at Naval Base Point Loma, San Diego, CA. These services will include instruction of military and civilian personnel, related instructional support, and curriculum maintenance for courses/segments in the areas of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Unmanned Maritime Systems (UMS), and Chemistry.    

    POSITION IS CONTINGENT ON CONTRACT AWARD.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • • Prepare and maintain a personalized lesson plan for each subject matter area assigned using the lesson plans furnished by EODTEU-ONE.
    • • Prepare quizzes and remedial homework assignments as needed.
    • • Review all Instructor Lesson Plans for technical accuracy.
    • • Review all test items, quizzes, homework, and other instructional materials for completeness and conformity with the curriculum, submitting written recommendations for change to the Division leadership.
    • • Serve as a subject matter expert for specific courses that they teach.
    • • Submit written recommendations for curriculum updates to the Division leadership.
    • • In conjunction with instructor tasks, perform surveillance and make interim changes (with Government approval) to curriculum materials including, but not limited to, lesson plans and trainee guides, test and test material.
    • • Participate in the Formal Course Review process with EODTEU-ONE military and civilian personnel during the normal eight-hour day, without interrupting the class schedule.
    • • Teach all assigned topics in accordance with applicable documents and approved curriculum effectively utilizing all allotted time.
    • • Maintain proficiency in instructional techniques as set forth in Navy's Journeyman Instructor Training Course or equivalent.
    • • Maintain proficiency in the use of training aids, equipment, devices, and instructional materials necessary to teach assigned topics.
    • • Develop and maintain classroom/laboratory management techniques that reflect professionalism and good discipline in order to enhance learning.
    • • Maintain a high standard of professional qualifications in instructional area and a dignified, harmonious and professional classroom/laboratory environment.
    • • Instruct students in operation and safety requirements of lab equipment and trainers.
    • • Monitor student compliance with safety standards and procedures.
    • • Maintain currency in safety standards and participate in annual safety stand-down training topics that pertain to classroom and laboratory safety.
    • • Administer, grade, and review knowledge and performance tests, taking necessary precautions to preclude the possibility of cheating and/or test compromise in accordance with applicable regulations.
    • • Serve as subject matter expert for test construction, test item analysis, and test review boards.
    • • Conduct student critiques in accordance with Navy School Management Manual (NAVEDTRA 135) and local directives.
    • • Provide academic counseling and/or training remediation.
    • • Provide academic/performance comments concerning students having special military request to the instructor supervisor for submission to the Division leadership.
    • • Perform operational checks on training equipment, devices and aids, daily as specified in each course statement of work. Report all inoperative equipment to the COR's designated representative.
    • • Inventory written instructional materials assigned to a particular classroom/lab and submits shortage list to the COR's designated representative.
    • • Perform training related corrective maintenance to correct instructor installed faults on assigned technical training equipment/simulators used in maintenance-oriented courses.
    • • Coordinate required and/or recommended changes in curriculum, testing, classroom arrangements, scheduling, and teaching methods concerning assigned topics with the Division leadership.
    • • Conduct classes in accordance with the course master schedule and daily training schedule.
    • • Attend the Navy Instructor Training Course (NITC) (CIN: A-012-0077) at 32nd Street Naval Base, San Diego

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

    • • Technical/Academic Instructor Qualifications 
    • • Graduate of a U.S. Armed Forces, EOD Technician NEC, MOS or AFSC producing course taught at NAVSCOLEOD.    
    • • Completed at least one of the following:      
    • o Military service Instructor Training Course (ITC).
    • o Instructor training via an accredited academic institution
    • o Academic credentialing (teacher/professor)

    • High school diploma or equivalent (i.e., GED).           

    • Successful performance in a US Armed forces active-duty EOD Technician/Mobile Detachment Salvage Diving (MDSU) diver billet for minimum of six years.  

    • Employment within past 5 year in an EOD-related capacity   

    • Must meet Navy High-Risk Training requirements as outlined in OPNAVINST 1500.75 series.      

    • Possess or qualify for a Security Clearance of SECRET         

    • Prior to employment- successful completion of physical, mental and drug screening
