Responsibilities: • Relay all event orders to on-site banquet staff members so they are made aware of their duties and responsibilities This position reports to the Banquet Manager. The Banquet Captain is responsible for ensuring proper setup for functions and coordinating banquet staff during food and beverage service. Primary responsibilities include: • Assist the Banquet Manager in the complete operation of the Banquet Department • Coordinates every aspect of the Banquet staff during all food and beverage service • Assign banquet waitstaff and set up staff with tasks before a function begins • Manage banquet wait staff break and work schedules to make sure functions are properly staffed • Supervise banquet staff to ensure they are operating effectively and efficiently to ensure customer satisfaction • Manage banquet staff to ensure end-of-day cleanup and preparations for the next day • Manage room setup prior to the function and breakdown • Create a Captain’s report for any function with food or beverage • Check the setup of the room with 100% accuracy to BEO within the specified time period prior to the function start time • Check food and beverage with 100% accuracy within the specified time period prior to function start time • Complete Food and Beverage Reports and Restaurant Checklists, when applicable Qualifications: • Over 3 years experience managing a team in a hospitality role, preferably in a food service capacity • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. Higher education degree in hospitality or hospitality management is a plus • Proven customer service experience as a manager; strong guest-focused mentality • Excellent communication skills for working with clients and other team members • Possess excellent computer skills, especially MS Office -Word, Excel, and Powerpoint • At least 1 year in a supervisory role in hospitality or banquet service Compensation: $16 - $17 hourly
