Job Description: What you’ll do
You’ll be responsible for working with our team to support our clients in various ways. This includes working across all levels, including directly with start-up founders/CEOs within our clients’ organizations and portfolio companies, providing guidance on topics such as:
- Sophistication of clients’ data capabilities and recommendations for improvements
- Key data initiatives for clients, including cloud adoption, legacy data migrations, AI/ML, and others
- Pros and cons of various commercial big data tools
- System integrations and reduction of data silos within organizations
- Design data models and data visualizations to power a client’s business
Requirements
- 5+ years of technology and data management experience with familiarity with common databases and database design/architecture
- Basic understanding of SQL querying, expertise in Hadoop, Spark, Azure SQL/NoSQL and other big data tools; strong data management at scale
- Data dashboarding and visualization capabilities (preferably within enterprise BI tooling such as Tableau, PowerBI, Looker, etc)
- Experience with relationship databases, database design, and data manipulation concepts
- High degree of organization and ability to manage competing priorities, driving results across multiple projects, exercising influence without authority
- Ability to navigate multiple levels of an organization, including presenting to leadership
- Confidence to speak up and drive portions of meetings, virtually and in-person; communicate effectively with clients across multiple mediums (email, phone, video, etc)
- Willingness to travel 15-50% following COVID guidelines
- Collaborative working-style, with ability to self-motivate and execute
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
Nice-to-haves
- Exposure to start-up or initial launch of software development
- Hands-on experience building interfaces, ETLs, or data pipelines to feed downstream applications; integration/transfer experience using APIs, SFTPs, etc.
- Programming/Coding experience in R, Python, Java, C++ or similar languages
- Ability to perform or decipher predictive analytics techniques for advanced analytics and machine learning
- Experience working within a virtual machine or cloud environment such as AWS or MS Azure
- Experience in consulting or iterative project-based work
- MS in Computer Science, Data Analytics or other related field
- Hands-on experience building technology applications, whether for work or as a hobby
- Natural language processing abilities; previous exposure to automation or artificial intelligence / machine learning
- Web analytics or Search Engine Optimization Exposure
- Creating repositories, practicing version control practices in Github
