    Overview

    A freestanding ER in Longview, TX is seeking a Culinary Services Line Cook to join their team. The Culinary Services Line Cook will strive to provide proficient, competent care in a fast-paced environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, and dishes.
    • Prepare hot food, including accompaniments and garnishes.
    • Follow preparation guides and provided recipes to prepare hot entrees, soups, and vegetables for dining room service, healthcare center, cafeteria, and special functions.
    • Set up workstation with sufficient product and utensils; prepare cooking and food holding equipment to ensure station is ready for meal service.
    • Prepare food in advance as indicated.
    • Arrange eye-appealing, tasty food items following recipes for preparation and plate service of hot food.
    • Complete food temperature checks for each meal and taste all food items prepared.
    • Complete preparation records and store food items properly at close of meal service.
    • Clean work area and equipment used in food preparation.
    • Take necessary precautions and follow correct procedures for lifting and bending.
    • Comply with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
    • Ensure all hot food preparation and assembling is done in accordance with established procedures.
    • Multitask and allocate time appropriately for multiple different orders.
    • Maintain cleanliness and working order of work area, tools, equipment, and supplies.
    • Assist with evacuations of residents to a safe location in the event of fire or other emergency.
    • Communicate with supervisor when equipment or systems are not working properly or of any safety hazards.

    Requirements & Qualifications

    • Knowledge of food preparation and handling techniques.
    • General knowledge of safety and sanitation rules and practices.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of fire safety procedures.
    • Ability to work in a high volume, high stress environment.
    • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to work autonomously and make efficient use of time and resources.
    • Minimum of eighteen (18) years of age.
    • Demonstrated competency of Physical Assessment within 90 days, as evaluated by Culinary Services Manager.
    • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate a fire extinguisher and manipulate kitchen equipment (slicer, chopper, processor, knives, etc.).
    • Ability to get along well with others; high level of sensitivity and interest in people, especially older adults.
    • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
    • Ability to use simple math concepts.
    • Current Food Handler's Permit required.
    • Previous cooking/food service experience preferred.
    • High School Diploma or GED.
