    Overview

    Green Sage Cafe is looking for a systems focused leader to help us grow and create an esprit de corps in our three kitchens. We are seeking individuals who respect the values of our company in preparing healthy, delicious meals by following simple recipes using organic, all natural and local ingredients. Our menu satisfies a customer base with a variety of dietary restrictions and lifestyle choices such as vegan, gluten-sensitive, dairy free etc. Must be a true team player by respecting all staff, proving dependability and showing initiative. Shifts are available between the hours of 7 am- 5 pm so no late nights are required. Opportunity for growth within the company for those who wish to excel in their career.

    Job Duties as a Leader:

    Act as a leader and liaison between Director of Culinary Operations and three restaurants; lead by example. You must prove you excel at being a working sous chef. Faster, cleaner, more detailed oriented, with a friendly demeanor who embraces our people first culture

    Must have the ability to work well with a diverse group of team members and bounce between all three restaurants as needed filling in gaps, covering illnesses, and vacations, etc.

    You need to be systems focused and prepared to teach, teach, teach our staff to embrace new systems, menu items and hold all of them accountable with compassion.

    You work directly for our Culinary Ops director and must be able to communicate effectively with our team while discussing performance. You will help the Director of Culinary Ops implement the systems and great recipes that will allow our health oriented company to grow.

    This is a working position and you must not be afraid to get dirty and dig in deep. Must be able to hold people accountable.

    A basic understanding of the P&L is desirable as is the ability to use simple computer programs to tack sales volume and trends.

    Job Duties as a Cook:

    Prepare basic components of each dish on our menu using our proven recipes

    Memorize and utilize our serving portion sizes and all basic meal prep procedures used in the kitchen

    Ensure that the kitchen, all food prep areas and all food storage areas meet restaurant cleaning standards

    Work with team of cooks to do portion prep work for other shifts when needed

    Monitor product freshness and rotate out old product based on a schedule created by the restaurant

    Help with dish washing (this task is shared among all staff including FOH)

    Requirements

    Must have previous experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment

    Must have weekend availability

    Ability to work on your feet for six hours or more a day

    High level of professionalism

    Excellent verbal communication and organization skills

    Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds at a time on a regular basis

    ServSafe certification a plus
