Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Curriculum Development Specialist to create new, and refine and enhance our existing curricula for
Physical Education, Enrichment Classes, and Day Camp programs. This includes developing written lesson plans, visual displays,
scripts, and/or video resources for our staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in curriculum development and youth
programming. A background in sports and/or summer camp programming is preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
Physical Education (PE) Curriculum:
Refine and enhance PE curriculum to create detailed, actionable lesson plans for grades K-6.
Address the nuances of different teaching formats, including individual classes, paired classes, and psychomotor PE
sessions.
Differentiate curriculum for primary and upper grades, ensuring developmental appropriateness.
Enrichment Program Development:
Introduce gamification elements to make lessons engaging, progressive, and goal-oriented.
Develop systems for sports enrichment classes that include leagues, standings, leaderboards, and progressive
competitions.
Design progressive activities for creative arts and STEAM classes that work toward collective goals and encourage
collaborative teams.
Day Camp Program Enhancement:
Develop daily schedules, scripts for orientations and transitions, and detailed progressive activity plans.
Create a comprehensive package that clearly outlines expectations and procedures for all staff members.
Incorporate gamification into all camp activities, embracing competition through leagues, tournaments, and
team/individual competitions.
Resource Development:
Produce detailed lesson plans and visual resources (photos and videos) that demonstrate activity setup and execution.
Utilize existing content to enhance curriculum materials.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the CEO to align curriculum with the company's ethos.
Incorporate feedback from staff and participants to continuously improve program content.
Qualifications/Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Curriculum Development, Physical Education, or a related field.
Proven experience in curriculum development, particularly for youth programs or educational institutions.
Strong understanding of age-appropriate curriculum design for children aged 4 to 12.
Skills:
Expertise in creating engaging and goal-oriented lesson plans.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
Proficiency in creating visual instructional materials.
Preferred:
Background in sports, youth programming, and/or summer camp operations.
Experience with gamification techniques and incorporating competition into educational programs.
Project Details:
Type: Contract position with deliverables specified for each time period.
Location: Remote work acceptable; potential travel for program observation may be required.
Timeline: To be determined based on project scope and mutual agreement.
