Job Description
A School Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly school environment for students, staff, and visitors. Custodians help ensure that classrooms, offices, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, and outdoor areas are properly cleaned and maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
Clean classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, cafeterias, and common areas.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize surfaces.
Empty trash and recycling containers.
Set up and arrange furniture for school events and activities.
Perform minor maintenance and repairs (e.g., changing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles).
Monitor building security by locking and unlocking doors as required.
Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies.
Report safety hazards, maintenance issues, or vandalism to supervisors.
Assist with snow removal, grounds maintenance, or seasonal tasks when needed.
Follow health, safety, and sanitation procedures.

This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that all duties and responsibilities must be performed at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location. Certain visa types may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
