$18–$20 per hour based on experience Part-time • After school • Evening shifts • Year-round
Schedule: Tuesday–Friday, 3:30 PM – 7:30 PM No weekends required Optional Sunday shifts (12 PM – 4 PM) starting in the New Year
Job Summary: British Swim School of Newton is seeking friendly, organized, and energetic Deck Ambassadors to support our after-school program inside the YMCA Wells Ave Newton. This is a fun, high-energy, customer-focused role that keeps our pool deck running smoothly.
You remain dry on deck, greeting families, checking in swimmers, supporting instructors, and making sure classes stay on time. For those who want more hours and higher pay, we offer the option to train as a Backup Swim Instructor.
Responsibilities:
Welcome families and check in swimmers
Keep classes running on time
Support instructors and manage student flow
Communicate transitions to families
Maintain an organized, safe pool deck
Assist parents with questions
Be a friendly, reliable presence for swimmers and families
Optional: Backup Swim Instructor Responsibilities
(only if you choose to train for this role)
Teach small-group swim lessons (3–4 students)
Follow our play-based swim curriculum
Encourage and motivate swimmers
Help build lifesaving water safety skills

Required Qualifications:
Friendly and reliable
Comfortable interacting with parents and children
Able to stand/walk for the entire shift
Able to work Tue–Fri 3:30–7:30 PM
Preferred (Not Required):
Customer service experience
Experience with children
Interest in teaching or aquatics
CPR/First Aid background
