Job Title: Customer Service Representative

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm

Payrate: $17/hr

Job Duties:

The City of Norfolk’s Department of Utilities, Water accounts are seeking a Full-Time Customer Service Representative to serve as a primary point of contact incoming calls. The ideal candidate for the position will exhibit high levels of customer service. This position involves answering and processing request and billing related questions via a multi-line phone and general email inquiries, billing and collection duties, reconciliation of accounts, and maintaining account receivables. The Customer Service Representative processes. Performs general clerical duties and provides assistance as needed to other staff members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

• Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams)
• Ability to multi-task into multiple systems to pull information
• Ability to critically think and make decisions based on customer input, work order notes, prior agent interactions on file.
• Strong verbal skills (bilingual a plus) with an ability to de-escalate customers.
• Call Center Experience a MUST. Familiarity with handing high call volumes (Not Collections).

Minimum/Special/Additional Requirements:

• High school or GED or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge.
