    Position Summary: We are seeking a customer-focused, detail-oriented Customer Service & Sales Associate to support daily showroom operations for a specialty retail store that offer charcoal and gas grills, grill islands, and outdoor fire features. This role combines front-line customer service, consultative sales, project coordination, and showroom upkeep. The ideal candidate is personable, organized, and comfortable with guiding customers through both simple purchases and more complex outdoor living projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    Customer Service & Sales

    Greet customers promptly and create a welcoming showroom experience

    Conduct in-depth customer interviews to understand needs, preferences, space constraints, and budget

    Educate customers on product features, fuel types, safety considerations, and maintenance

    Recommend appropriate grills, grill islands, fire pits, and accessories based on customer requirements

    Prepare quotes, explain pricing, and close sales

    Answer phones, respond to emails, and assist with general inquiries

    Handle customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary

    Customer Interviews & Project Development

    Lead structured consultations with customers planning outdoor kitchen or fire feature projects

    Gather key details including measurements, layout ideas, utilities (gas/electric), and usage goals

    Document customer requirements clearly for internal teams

    Collaborate with design and installation teams to translate customer needs into actionable plans

    Follow up with customers throughout the decision-making process

    Project Management & Coordination

    Serve as a point of contact for customers throughout the lifecycle of their project

    Track project progress from initial consultation through ordering, delivery, and installation

    Coordinate with scheduling, service, and installation teams to ensure timelines are met

    Communicate updates, delays, or changes proactively to customers

    Maintain organized records of customer interactions, quotes, and project details

    Daily Operations & Store Readiness

    Open and prepare the showroom prior to business hours, including:

    Checking voicemail and email for urgent service messages and relaying them to the appropriate team

    Setting up point-of-sale systems and communication tools

    Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing showroom:

    Sweep floors, tidy displays, and ensure products are properly arranged

    Clean grills, grill islands, furniture, and design areas

    Remove clutter from sales counters and shared workspaces

    Ensure all display lighting and operational features are functioning

    Monitor showroom condition throughout the day and address issues as needed

    Administrative & Cash Handling

    Manage daily cash drawer setup and reconciliation

    Maintain accurate records of transactions and customer orders

    Use company systems (POS, email, scheduling tools) to support operations

    Qualifications

    Previous retail or customer service experience preferred

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

    Comfortable with consultative selling and project-based work

    Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

    Basic computer proficiency (email, POS systems, scheduling tools)

    Passion for outdoor living, grilling, or home improvement is a plus

    Work Environment

    Retail showroom environment with frequent customer interaction

    Combination of desk work, standing, and light physical activity (cleaning, organizing displays)
