  • Responsibilities

    The purpose of this position is to handle customer inquiries in person, via telephone, radio, or other technology. ****


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Responds to telephone or radio inquiries for a variety of information.
    • Facilitates service for customers, including all utility account maintenance.
    • Provides customer service by responding to requests for information from customers and resolving related problems.
    • Performs administrative duties by copying, filing, faxing, typing, entering data, and preparing, storing, and distributing mail and correspondence.
    • Documents customer information from the general public regarding complaints, service requests, commendations, surveys, and general inquiries.
    • May handle calls after hours due to emergencies.
    • Performs data entry for customer complaints, telephone system reports, departmental monthly reports, and other reports as appropriate.

    Supplemental Functions:

    • Performs other similar duties as required

    Job Specifications and Qualifications

    Knowledge:

    • Customer service principles and practices
    • Modern office equipment
    • Basic mathematical concepts
    • Basic knowledge of all City department functions

    Licensing and Certifications:

    None Required

    Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

    • Positions in this class require: fine dexterity, sitting, reaching, handling, climbing, vision, hearing, twisting, talking.
    • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.

    Required Experience

    High school diploma or equivalency, with at least one year of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
