HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW
The Customs & Trade Advisor serves as an expert on customs and trade matters, supporting the development and growth of the company's tariff/duty recovery and remediation practices.
This position requires deep technical expertise, the ability to build trusted client relationships, and the capability to shape new service offerings in a fast-growing environment.
This is a contract to permanent hire, remote position with a NYC based company.
EXPECTATIONS
- Provide clear guidance on complex import compliance related activities
- Conduct client in-take reviews to identify duty savings opportunities and develop action plans
- Coordinate with internal team and external partners to execute duty recovery plan
- Review duty refund documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Assist clients with ACE Account approval, set- up, and best practices
- Advise clients on import strategies and compliance requirements
- Lead successful delivery of client engagements with high-quality outcomes
- Develop strategies to manage client’s duty spend and mitigate trade-related risks
- Conduct research to address client inquiries on tariffs, duty payments, and refund process
- Support business development and expand client relationships
- Monitor global trade developments to incorporate into existing and/or new service offerings
- Build and maintain relationships with industry experts to promote best in class practices
ESSENTIALS
- Active LCB required
- 5+ years of import compliance experience in brokerage or consulting services
- Technical expertise in customs regulations; HTS classification, valuation, COO, FTAs
- In depth knowledge of IEEPA, and Section 232, 301,122 tariffs and duty remediation strategy
- Experience engaging with CBP, customs brokers, and trade attorneys
- Strong client-service orientation with a high energy, dynamic personality
- Strong ethical standards, sense of urgency, and commitment to high-quality output
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
