    The Opportunity

Our client is a defense-focused technology firm supporting mission-critical DoD programs at one of the nation's premier air force installations. This ISSO role is not a paper-pushing compliance seat — it's an active, hands-on position where your decisions directly influence the security posture of classified systems. If you know RMF inside and out and want to do work that matters, this is it.

    What You'll Be Doing

    System Security & Authorization

    • Guide IT security control requirements to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of classified information systems
    • Align security solutions with existing system and network configurations, coordinating approvals with configuration managers
    • Support the full DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) lifecycle — from authorization through sustainment and disposition

      Ongoing ISSO Duties

    • Manage continuous monitoring, change management, and maintenance approvals
    • Handle account management, auditing, and vulnerability scanning
    • Coordinate closely with Certified Defense Contractors, SCAs, and Authorizing Official Designated Representatives (AODRs)

      Advisory & Compliance

    • Serve as a cybersecurity subject matter expert advising military and civilian personnel
    • Support inspection and audit readiness across the program
    • Contribute to compliance initiatives and leadership briefings

      What Success Looks Like

    • Authorization packages are complete, accurate, and on schedule
    • Continuous monitoring is running without gaps or findings slipping through
    • Stakeholders — from configuration managers to AODRs — see you as a reliable, proactive partner
    • Audits and inspections are non-events because the program stays ahead of them

      What You Bring

    • Active Top Secret clearance (TS/SCI eligibility preferred)
    • Demonstrated experience across the full RMF lifecycle — not just pieces of it
    • Strong working knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policy and NIST standards
    • Experience coordinating with SCAs, AODRs, and defense contractors
    • DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification (Security+, CISSP, CISM, CASP+, or equivalent)

      Bonus Points For:

Prior ISSO or ISSM experience in a DoD or defense contractor environment

Familiarity with classified network environments (Collateral, SCI, SAP)

Experience at Kirtland AFB or with Air Force / Space Force programs

      Who You Are

You don't need someone to hand you a checklist — you already know what's on it. You're comfortable working across technical and non-technical stakeholders, and you know how to translate complex security requirements into plain language. You stay ahead of findings rather than reacting to them, and you take ownership of the systems you're responsible for.
