Functions: Teach the “Joint Maritime Operations” (JMO) course at the Intermediate Service College level with duties including: conducting classroom and online instruction; reviewing and evaluating student essays, examinations, and other written and verbal assessments; developing curricula; performing various types of service to the College; traveling to, and lecturing at, nonresident seminars around the country as required; and performing educational administrative functions as required. The JMO course prepares Naval War College students for the operational arena by emphasizing operational planning and joint force application to achieve military objectives. It examines joint operations from the standpoint of the Combatant Commander (COCOM) and Joint Task Force (JTF) Commander with a particular emphasis on maritime operations. It further develops joint attitudes and perspectives and increases understanding of service cultures. Required qualifications include an advanced degree in one or more of the following areas: National Security, Strategic Studies, International Affairs, International Relations, or a related field
Required qualifications:
advanced degree in one or more of the following areas: History, International Affairs, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field; and teaching experience at the graduate level.
graduation from a U.S. military senior- or intermediate-level Service College with JPME-I and/or II certification; relevant and proven expertise in joint or maritime operational level warfare and US Navy roles and missions; and demonstrated experience working in the national security and defense environments.
must be a U.S. citizen and be capable of obtaining and maintaining a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications:
an earned Ph.D in one of the academic fields noted above
academic program management experience
Naval War College or other military Service College teaching experience at the graduate level
experience and competence in internet-based instruction; and distance learning experience at the graduate level.
Place of Performance: The work shall be performed at spaces provided to contractor employees on-site at the Naval War College (NWC), 686 Cushing Road, Newport, RI 02841 and at various Government facilities, academic venues, or from the contractor’s residence.
