    Are you looking for a hands-on learning experience that will teach you how to design political survey fielding strategies and collect representative samples? Want to understand how data helps campaigns win? Then Cygnal's internship program is for you. 

    We are looking for the best and brightest students and recent graduates for well-paid internships at our Washington, D.C. office. Cygnal, the most accurate private research firm in the country (according to the New York Times and the FiveThirtyEight), is a culture-obsessed, team-oriented, fail-and-learn, obsessively innovative organization. 

    You will work with the entire team to develop research projects and conduct analysis that helps our clients understand their needs, stakeholders, audiences, and goals.  

     No day at Cygnal will look the same as the last, except for the fact that you will give it your all and leave nothing on the field. Your time will be spent: 

    • Programming survey scripts into our collection software 

    • Preparing survey materials for fielding 

    • Helping field our surveys using our in-house P2P SMS platform 

    • Providing quality control checks on our survey and analytics projects 

    • Editing survey results dashboards for clients to interact with their data 

    • Logging project performance metrics 

    • Identifying and recording trends among targeted survey respondent groups

     

     During your internship, you will learn valuable skills that will fast-track your career in politics, including: 

    • How polling and market research are conducted 

    • How to design survey fielding strategies and collect representative samples 

    • How to understand and dissect survey data 

    • How to use predictive analytics to score audiences affinity and forecast future results 

    • How data helps campaigns win races 

    • Work alongside senior leadership team members in discussions with campaigns and other political and business leaders

     

     Ideal Candidate Profile 

    • Rising senior or recent graduate in political science, public relations, marketing, data science, or related fields (must reside in the Washington, DC area or be willing to relocate temporarily) 

    • Competent in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) 

    • Highly accurate work with attention to detail 

    • Developing quantitative skills with a basic grasp of statistics, current events, and US election procedures 

    • Ability to learn and adapt rapidly, taking feedback in stride 

    • Flexibility to work weekends and/or extended hours as needed - politicians never sleeps
