    POSITION TITLE: OPERATIONS MANAGER

    DEPARTMENT: MANAGEMENT

    REPORTS TO: PRESIDENT & COO

    FLSA TYPE: EXEMPT

    1. GENERAL FUNCTION

    Total management and leadership responsibility for the overall operations and

    production of the Southwest facility, including production, quality, shipping, maintenance and HR functions. Responsible to meet established goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) pertaining to safety, quality, on-time delivery, cost and efficiency, and other areas pertaining to customer expectations.

     

    1. JOB REQUIREMENTS

    * Essential *

    A. Keep supervisor and management apprised of progress and obstacles that constrain attainment of goals and KPIs. Must be able to provide proposals and implement systems for overcoming obstacles.

    B. Develop, implement, and manage systems that will positively impact labor and production measurables, schedule compliance, staffing efficiencies, and quality standards.

    C. Responsible for personnel management (working with HR department for assistance), including:

    a. Interviewing, hiring, and training associates and staff.

    b. Labor planning, assigning, and directing work.

    c. Performance improvement planning, rewarding, and coaching associates and staff.

    d. Administration of company policies.

    e. Addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    D. Creation and supervision of a safe work environment with strict adherence to OSHA regulations.

    E. Responsible for reporting monthly to Plant Manager;

    1. Staffing, equipment, and resource needs (short-term and long-term).

    2. Goal and KPI measurables.

    3. Facility performance reports.

    F. Responsible for management of key projects which includes planning, scheduling, and monitoring of the progress. Ensure adherence to timeframes.

    G. Responsible for ensuring all processes and systems within facility meet or exceed the TS16949 and ISO 14001 requirements. Responsibility as Process Owner for TS16949.

    H. Responsible for 5 S’s of facility.

    I. Responsible for completing or approving any and all customer generated documentation/reports or requests from Plant Manager utilizing staff and verifying results.

    J. Responsible to ensure all APQP activities are completed timely.

    K. Work side by side with Quality department Mgmt team on all quality issues to determine root cause and follow staff up on completion and verification of corrective actions.

    L. Constantly review the departments for inadequacies and waste, and recommend or implement improvements as necessary.

    M. Represent the company in any customer meetings or discussions and assign duties as needed to resolve any concerns.

    N. Must be able to make sound decisions on all manufacturing related activities.

    O. Must communicate with Japanese internal staff and parent company for any necessary issues.

    P. Responsible for various tasks as required.

     

    1. QUALIFICATIONS

    A. BA / BS in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, Logistics, or related area.

    B. Required:

    1. 7 years mgt experience (must demonstrate employment stability).

    2. 5 years injection molding experience required.

    3. 5 years in automotive and lean manufacturing environment.

    C. Good interpersonal skills.

    D. Good written and oral communication skills.

    E. Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, Theory of Constraints, or Change Management.

    F. Strong working knowledge of PC software including MS office (Word, Excel, etc.).

    G. Must have adequate test scores in: Mental Alertness, Excel, Graphic, Basic Math, and Mechanical tests.

     

    1. PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES

    A. Travel up to 10% of time.

    B. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

    C. Must be able to stand/walk greater than 50% in an 8 hour day.

    D. Must be able to perform finger and hand dexterity 40% in an 8 hour day.

    E. Must be able to wear safety glasses.
