    We are currently hiring a local LVN/LPN for our clients Urgent Care For Kids located in The Woodlands, TX

    MUST BE A LOCAL

    PAY: $1600/ weekly 

    SCHEDULE: Clinical Hours, 32 to 40 hrs guaranteed

    TYPE: Local Contract

    DURATION: 13 weeks to permanent

    START: ASAP

    DUTIES: 

    • Obtaining patient/guarantor personal, financial, and insurance information to be utilized in the process of creating a medical record and submitting insurance claims as applicable
    • Scheduling patients following registration to be seen by clinical staff
    • Collection of appropriate co-pays, co-insurance, and other applicable fees
    • Obtaining and recording vitals including weight in kilograms, pulse, temperature (oral, rectal, tympanic), respiratory rate, blood pressure (age 3 and over), height when applicable, visual acuity when applicable 
    • Obtaining and recording chief complaint, history of present illness, past medical history including birth history, developmental history, and any chronic medical conditions, surgical history, family medical history, social history, and immunization status 
    • Patients with a temperature of 100.4 or higher: offering to administer medication to treat the fever per protocol with acetaminophen or ibuprofen prior to evaluation by a provider
    • Patients complaining of pain: offering to administer medication to treat the pain per protocol with acetaminophen or ibuprofen prior to evaluation by a provider
    • Managing open wounds by applying pressure to active bleeding and cleansing wounds using sterile saline and/or wound cleaning solution
    • Notifying the provider on shift immediately of any abnormal vital signs obtained
    • Identification of any patient conditions that may require emergency triage and notifying the provider on shift that immediate evaluation may be needed
    • Obtaining rapid strep test, urinalysis/urine culture, and/or rapid influenza test when appropriate per protocol prior to evaluation by the provider on shift 
    • Duties assigned by provider orders and delegated by physician leadership; clinical decision to order below interventions tests with the provider on shift: 
        1. Obtaining CLIA-waived rapid tests:

         

        • a. Rapid COVID-19 Antigen Test 
        • b. Rapid strep test 
        • c. Rapid influenza test 
        • d. Rapid respiratory syncytial virus test 
        • e. Rapid mononucleosis test 
        • f. Guaiac test 
        • g. Pregnancy test 
        • h. Whole blood glucose by capillary sample 
        • i. Urinalysis without microscopy

         

        1. Preparation and submission of send-out labs to outside lab vendors, including COVID-19 PCR and Antibody testing.
        1. Ear wash/lavage

         

        1. Obtaining sterile urine specimen by clean catch

         

        1. Instructing parents/patients on obtaining stool sample at home for bacterial culture, ova and parasite, and/or unpreserved stool specimen for any other required testing

         

        1. Wound cleaning/dressing

         

        1. Medication administration

         

        1. Splinting/immobilization of extremities
        1. Crutches teaching

         

        1. Application of compression wraps to extremities

         

        1. Suture/Staple removal per protocol

         

        1. X-rays

         

        • a. Utility Players who possess certification to obtain x-rays may do so independently upon the order of the provider 
        • b. Utility Players who do not possess certification to obtain x-rays will assist the provider with patient positioning and creating computerized records of the films; however, the provider on staff will be responsible for delivering the radiation exposure that creates the films as allowable by licensure and/or active nursing board agreement

         

        1. Advanced skills—may be utilized if Utility Player is appropriately trained:

         

      • a. Urinary catheterization 
      • b. Venous blood collection 
      • c. Initiation of intravenous catheter for delivery of intravenous fluids 
      • d. RNs only: may deliver medications through an intravenous catheter

    Required: 

    • Licensed LVN/LPN
    • Pediatric experience &/or acute care REQUIRED
