At Ocean Dental Group, we take pride in delivering exceptional dental care to a diverse patient base with a strong focus on professionalism, compassion, and clinical excellence. We are currently seeking a Dental Assistant or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) for a temporary-to-permanent position.

While both Dental Assistants and Registered Dental Assistants play key roles in supporting the dental team, RDAs are licensed professionals in the state of California who are legally permitted to perform a broader scope of clinical duties. This includes tasks such as coronal polishing, application of sealants, and taking final impressions—all under the supervision of a licensed dentist.

    Key Responsibilities

Prepare patients for dental procedures and ensure comfort throughout their visit.

Provide patient education on proper oral hygiene practices.

    Assistance with Dental Procedures

Assist the dentist during procedures including fillings, extractions, and root canal therapy.

Provide chairside support: passing instruments, suctioning, patient positioning.

Perform advanced clinical tasks such as:

    Fabricating provisional crowns

    Taking preliminary impressions

Intraoral scanning for fixed and removable prosthetics

    Applying Pit & Fissure Sealants

Performing in-office whitening treatments (e.g., Zoom)

    Taking diagnostic dental X-rays

    Dental Hygiene Functions (RDA-specific)

    Conduct coronal polishing

Perform light hand-scaling (as allowed by certification)

    Apply fluoride treatments

    Sterilization & Equipment Maintenance

Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and operatory rooms to ensure patient safety.

    Administrative Support

Schedule appointments and maintain accurate patient records.

Deliver post-operative instructions and reinforce treatment plans.

    Qualifications

Active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license, issued by the Dental Board of California

Current CPR Certification (BLS or ACLS)

Dental assisting experience preferred but not required

Solid knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and terminology

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills

    Skills & Competencies

High level of competency in assisting with general and specialized dental procedures

Excellent organization and attention to detail

Team-oriented with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced clinical setting

Note: This is a temporary-to-permanent position. Candidates will be evaluated during the temporary period with the opportunity for permanent hire based on performance, reliability, and fit within the team.
